Midwestern, Glendale 2012 class

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nope. I got mine today too and it was a standard sized envelope with 2 pages in it or something. It's just letting you know you have until October whatever to turn in the deposit and to make sure you take all the pre-reqs.

October 21. The next interview date is October 21. Hmm, coincidence? I think not. 😉

ETA: All the stuff you'd want from "the big packet" is given to you online through the MWUNet portal. They snuck one of the required disclosures into the folder they give you for the interview.

Upcoming Interviews
Selladore - October 24
RoverRX - October 21
AMG CYN - October 21
TheTruthLies - October 21
sivapharm - October 21
Pharmassist - October 21

Anyone else?

lol looks like they want to know how many students are serious before they consider the next batch of applicants. 😛

Well, ya, they do rolling admissions, so they make you front the money as a good faith commitment before they count how many seats are left.

On a completely different note, my mum found my immunization records. I'm so happy, I don't have to be a human pin cushion for pharma school.

Some bits of advice I got from a a prep session :
Take the water if offered, you may well want it later and then it would be akward to break the flow to get some. Also, it can buy you a few seconds to organize your thoughts. But also, it is OK to say " Wow, thats a good question, may I think about that for a second ?". Being thoughtful is good. Just don't stall too long.
The panel I had last year was really pleasant and low stress. Don't make yourself crazy, you really have done all the hard stuff already.
😎

Thanks, Pharmassist. I'm going to have to keep reminding myself not to be so nervous. I hope I get to meet you next Friday to somewhat ease the tension! One week from right now, and it'll be over! :xf:

Yes ma'am: nicknames for HelloPanda and wanttobepharm.

Are you thinking of applying to MWU CPG?

like I would apply to a place far from TX 🙄🙄
Congrats on getting accepted. I hope you don't hurt anybody with that gorgeous smile of yours. 😛

Just look for the old chick- that will be me!

Seriously, you will be fine. Use your nervousness in a positive manner. This is going to be fine.

I got my acceptance already too...I have not decided yet. What day did you interview?

The interview is fine....I went on the 28th of Sept. The nice part is that they respond really quick if you are accepted...Good Luck!!! I don't know if I will be accepting the seat however, I have my heart on moving to Florida!

Those of you who have already interviewed should fill out the interview feedback so we can see the most current info on there. please...?

To be honest, the info on their is the same....I honestly would just be repeating whatis already on there....

I was asked basic stuff....Practice your answers....Know why you want to be a pharmacist, and why Midwestern, and be yourself...

They use the first 2 that were submitted and completed to pharmcas

To all you waitlisters....I am opening a spot up for all of you on monday!!! Good Luck!!

For those of you trying to choose between a couple schools (including MWU), what is weighing into your decision?

I would imagine some of the main deciding factors include: cost, proximity to home, and future job prospects.

Only silly people like me would choose school for food.....
Only reason I want to go to auburn is for the southern BBQ....i have no shame saying that:laugh:

My parents own a decent sized house less than 3 miles away from school, lower price of tuition in comparison to UOP, 3 years only, friendly environment, and it would probably be easier to find a job in AZ than CA. I'm most likely going here but I still want to go to a few other interviews so that I can feel certain. Try telling that to the parents though...argh.

If I do go here, I might be renting out a few rooms for quite a bit cheaper than what Midwestern and apartments are willing to offer though! 😛

Midwestern apartments are so cheap...i wonder what they look like inside.
Can you early peeps keep us updated on the big packet if you guys receive.

hey after about 3 weeks being on hold, I was finally invited to interview at midwestern, so I was wondering if there is anything I should know about the interview, etc.?

Congrats on the interview invitation!

Boo. I'm still on hold. 🙁 It has been over a month now.

panel of 3 interviewers with 3 interviewees arranged in panel 1-2-3/A-B-C

Very casual conversations. Relax, be yourself and you'll show true character.

Maybe for wantttobepharm...I certainly didn't feel that my interview was casual. o_o It was very interview-ish in that it was question, answer, question, answer, repeat. I did find the interviewers to be quite amicable. It helped that they smiled at us instead of looking ridiculously stern. I also liked how they humored me by laughing now and then at my answers.

welllllll that really depends on who you are i guess....

if you are hackerpanda and tsukiyo

less than 2 hours.

I have professor Lynn and professor Jordan, and Akachukwu (3rd year student)

Professor Lynn is always smiling and super friendly looking, professor Jordan puts on a nonchalant face that scared us all. we couldnt tell if shes even listening to what we are saying. extremely hard to guess whether we are answering to her liking. lol

Wish you the best of luck! I really think Arizona has really friendly folks.

On October 3rd PharmCAS mailed my application to Midwestern and on Oct 10th the application was revised by PharmCAS. How long after this should I expect to wait before receiving the supplemental application?

Revised simply meant PharmCAS did turnitin.com on your statements.

If the file is mailed on October 3rd, you should hear back soon.

It took ~3 weeks for me. However, after you submit the supplemental, it only takes them a few days to give you a invite.

I think Midwestern said about 600 bucks for a single, right? I'll cut you a better deal for housing. 😀

Mine was mailed on the 3rd as well. I got my supplemental app request on the 10 and did it the same day.
The next day I checked my portal again and had the interview invitation. I never got an email telling me it was there, but that may be because I scheduled my interview immediately. I scheduled on the 11th and I was given the choice of this friday (10/21), or the following monday. I imagine if I couldn't make either of those very soon dates I could have pushed it back further.

Was your application complete when pharmcas mailed it? were you waiting for PCAT scores or any of your references?

$300 a month and I want a maid+cleaning service+cooking

$400 a month and you clean up your own crap. Cooking is possible if you pay extra. Also, there's a special fine involved if you complain about the food. Internet, trash bill, and of that ilk shall be covered by owners of the house. Maybe. 👍

Damn, this is one tough landlady.
Living on campus does have perks: gym access, convenience from classes, close to food.

To be honest, I think the housing is ridiculously cheap. I pay more than the two bedrooms for my one bedroom right now 🙁

I forget, when did they say we should receive housing information? Around December?

The ~$600 on campus also includes all the utilities (including internet) except electric. It's maybe a little more expensive than what I could find a single for, but I haven't checked in that pocket up by MWU.

Splitting a double at MWU works out to $380 per student. Just sayin'.

Housing info is on the website now, but I think they said January to apply in my interview. I think there's some in the packet, too.

none of you guys are living on campus right since you have residence around school. Did the mention the campus have a time restraint? can we go to gym anytime?

I think you were going to have a stroke. Hard to perceive anything as casual when your heart is pumping and you want to bolt from the room. :meanie:

Most of the interviews I've been to have been pretty amicable, but considering what we're applying for, I think it was pretty casual. They really weren't intentionally grilling me, but it was question, answer, question, answer format. I could totally see how it could be much more uptight.
