Midwestern, Glendale 2012 class

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
any time =) PS I'm one of your ambassadors, so feel free to ask any questions. For all I know, maybe we've already met 😉

wow i didnt know we get an ambassador..thats pretty neat.
Yes, some of the interview dates get assigned "ambassadors" which are basically PS1 and PS2 students. They are there to answer any questions. I'm pretty sure that not EVERY interview date had one, but many of them should. Either way feel free to ask me any questions that you may have. Either way you made a great choice of choosing CPG =)

I personally don't think I heard from them for a little while. About submitting late...I wouldnt worry too much because they work on a rolling admission basis. Meaning if there are still spots, then there are still interviews.

"How long did it take until you hear back?" is a question with varying answers. If you ask some of the earlier applicants, we submitted quite early in the cycle so some of us may wait for a while until we heard back. If I remember correctly, it actually took almost two weeks until I submitted my supplemental to get an interview. Some applicants have indicated that they heard back with couple days! I think now that they are in full gear admission mode, they will either be very fast in sending you an interview invite after processing your complete application or take a bit because of the amount of applications they received.

I would say be patient and give them up to a week to worry about anything at all. It is December and this is when majority of the applicants are completing their applications if they decided to do pharmacy.

Hang in there! 👍

If you have the patience to read through 24 pages lol you can see what others timelines are. But here is mine in case you don't feel like reading through the random talks we have from time to time.

I think I submitted my PharmCAS first of July, submitted my supplemental around late August, and waited about 1.5 week to get my interview invite. Interviewed the first day of interview while the 2nd interview is the next day. Got accepted a week later (after freaking out a bit since hackerpanda and tsukiyo got accepted right away and scared the crap out of rest of us and they interviewed on the 2nd day also!).

So don't nervous or worrying about anything. Admissions office = DMV slow, but Midwestern is actually the fastest I've seen out of all the school's I've applied/interviewed/accepted.

I know how that is! I was so anxious, had to wait a week to know I got accepted, but that is super fast compared to most other schools. I probably would have went crazy had I applied to others lol.

It only took me like 2 days to hear back from MCPHS, but that's including them mailing the letter to my home.

Midwestern took a week to let me know and I was seriously freaking out..you can ask hackerpanda....everyday I was like...omg I'm not going to be a pharmacist...I failed! and she'll tell me the chill the f out.

damn the unpredictable nature :luck:

I can confirm this. He freaked out every day for nothing! 🙄

Just received my acceptance after checking the website. Interviewed on Dec. 9th. for those who interviewed that day.

Hey guys!! Ok so I submitted my pharmcas app on 12-7-11 and of course I'm still waiting for them to process it and mail it to Midwestern! I know I did it kinda late but do you think it would be mailed by January 5th? If it isn't would I pass the deadline and then be disqualified? I hope not!! A little worried over here haha

Can't answer your question for certain, but you may want to email or contact the admissions office and see if they'll allow you to submit your supplemental after the deadline should your pharmcas info not make it in time for them to review it. My guess would be if you don't make the cut offs you don't get a shot at the school. Hope it works out in your favor though!

Luckily the deadline for the supplemental is not until February so I know my Pharmcas app will be mailed way before then I'm just worried Midwestern won't receive it until after the January 5th deadline. Pharmcas says they should go by the date I actually submitted it (12-7-11) but I guess I should just call the school to find it. Thanks!

Good luck everyone thats interviewing and those that recently applied.

Will be good news I'm sure!

I'm pretty sure that as long as you submit your PharmCAS application and pay the fee by the school deadline, its considered submitted on time. I believe this is why the supplemental deadline is in February; it gives PharmCAS enough time to process your info. You may want to contact PharmCAS directly to find out for sure.

Yep I called both pharmcas and midwestern and they both told me that it was submitted before the deadline which is fine 😎 but of course I'm going crazy anyway waiting for them to process and mail it!!! 😱

Got put on the waitlist, let's hope it's not a long wait.

If anyone has been accepted to this school, please let me know so you can be added to the Official Roll Call for Class of 2015/2016. Please post in the sticky thread your acceptances and the program you will be attending (if accepted to multiple schools).

Here is the link to the sticky thread:

🙂👍

For those of you that interviewed on Monday Dec 19th, do you remember the dean saying we might get a call before Christmas? Did anyone?

Hi!!
Does anyone know what I need to do get off the waitlist?
Or how does it work?
Anyone from out of state?

I don't think there's anything you can do except wait for people to drop or not pay their $1000 deposit. Once there is a opening, MWU will go down a list of those on the waitlist and contact to see he/she wants to go to MWU still. I don't think they ever tell you what number you're waitlisted as though. 🙁

Also, MWU accepts mainly out of state students. I believe a good portion of their students are from California and Utah.

Hello...typing this with 2 less fingers so excuse the typos if sny.

Interview is very casual even though you will feel intimidsted anyays. Just be yourself and the interviewers usually make you feel very comfortsble to show your true chracter. 👍

I finally got interview invitation from this school! Geez!0put me on hold for 3 months! 😉

congrats to those that have interviews coming up
it'll be a great experience 👍

i wonder how many more interviews they have to go, I figure they would wrap it up in march.

Yes, he did say that. But later on that day, one of the admissions counselor came out and told us that the campus will be closed until Jan 3rd or so, and that we'll likely hear back from them 2nd week of January-ish.

I am also interviewing on Jan 5th! Are you planning on exploring the city?

I also have a question regarding the essay portion for everyone: is it a long essay or more like a paragraph response? Also are there more than one question? I'm a little worried about this part because I recently graduated in June and may have forgotten how to write a decent essay. Also is it timed? Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

It's a very short and simple response. Just answer the question accordingly and you should be fine. I don't think being graduated from college will have any negative impact for you. I graduated from college almost 2 years and I did fine, I suck at writing also. Don't worry about it that much and focus more on making a great impression during the interview.

Good luck with your interview!

It's 100 words. You choose from two VERY open-ended prompts. I think they're just trying to see that you're literate, like, in person. It's not timed, you just do it between activities (which isn't hard at all - unless you're like me and can't stop talking to co-applicants 😛). My only advice is to bring a pencil with an eraser, or whatever you like to write with - all they have is golf pencils.
