Midwestern university's (IL) M.A in Biomedical Science

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When I was interviewing for the AZ one I asked about the differences and was told they were essentially the same program just being held at different campuses. The articulation agreement extends across both as well.

I just got alternate listed... seems like they're really picky at downers grove. best of luck to the rest of you!

withdrawing my seat at IL and decided to go with the program in AZ. Is anyone looking for a roommate/ study partner? I'm male, 25 y.o, pre-dent student. If anyone is looking, please p.m me.

If anyone is looking for a roommate lmk! Trying to find housing now! (For Illinois campus)

Just withdrew my seat from the Illinois program to go to the Arizona one as well, goodluck to the waitlisted people!

Thank you all who have been providing me with information in this feed! It has really helped a lot. I am a Canadian student who just graduated and will be attending Midwestern this September for the MA BMS program. I am planning to apply to CCOM and my goal ultimately is to enter an osteopathic school. I am already processing my application since I would like to get the acceptance for 2014. Has anyone been accepted to medical after this one year program? Or do most people take a year off and then apply with their graduate grades? It was under my impression that when applying for this masters it would help boost my application for the 2014 class, not 2015. If anyone could give me any insight it would mean a lot! This is a really stressful time and I want to make sure I know all the facts. As well everyone is talking about this "guaranteed interview" after two quarters... can that be in effect if I have applied this year?

Has anyone been accepted recently? I just applied.

I was complete for Downers grove MA program in December and got rejected at the beginning of February with a 2.93 cgpa, 3.3-3.4ish sgpa and 27 mcat. I think it was because I may have accidentally been replying to the RFU BMS essay prompt instead of Midwesterns so totally my fault. I may be going to kcumb's program anyway and I will be honest and say that I never spoke to any friendly folks in admissions at downers grove which kind of put me off. Oh well good luck to all!

Sorry to hear that! Do you know when the application was first opened up?

I think it opened up sometime last fall. I am not sure it they are looking for students with higher gpas, MCAT/dat or whatever. I am assuming i was rejected because I answered a Rosalind Franklin essay prompt for the Midwestern bms essay question (I had both apps open on my screen as I was typing up essays).

Your MCAT is pretty high so I don't think that was the cause of your rejection. That sucks about the essay thing! Good luck with Rosalind!

Hey everyone, try checking your portal status. I just got accepted today and I only saw it on the portal and received no email or anything. Maybe they gave more decisions today?

Congrats! Do you mind sharing when you were complete?

Thank you! Not a problem. I was complete on 3/7 so the turnaround time was pretty quick. Are you complete already?

Ahh that makes me nervous. I was complete 3/11 and no change on my portal. Hopefully I don't get a thin envelope in the mail this week!

Easier said than done, I know, but try not to worry about it. You'll probably hear something back this week I would assume!

Hy guys I just got accepted into the MA program today! I'm pre dental! Does anyone know people that have actually graduated from the program and gone into dental school or med school? And If so did they get in the fall after they graduated the program or did they have to wait to renter in the application cycle?

Hello everyone,
I am currently in the process of applying to the both the IL and AZ campuses. I will be taking the GRE this week. Does anyone know what the preferred range of scores are for the GRE at both campuses? For those of you that submitted GRE scores and were accepted, what were your scores (if you don't mind me asking)?

I am wondering if you have heard back, and if so how long it was since you were complete?

So I know this thread has been inactive for a while, but I figured I'd try to start it up again!

I was accepted into the MA program a few months ago and as of right now (waitlisted at 3 dental schools--so I'm still waiting on that), I'll be attending the Downers Grove campus for the 9 month program. I'm visiting the campus on Monday to check it out and hopefully figure some housing and financial aid information out.

I was hoping to find out if there is a Facebook page for the Class of 2016 (2015-2016) yet? If so, can someone share it with me please? I can try to take some pictures of the campus when I'm there on Monday and share it with the group🙂

Best of luck to all those applying!

If we do a transfer of application, do we also still need to complete an online application for the MA program?

Just got accepted to the MA program in Illinois. Any previous or current students care to share their overall experience of this program?

I also got into Tufts MBS so I am trying to decide between the two. What do you guys think?

How many MA students receive admission to M.D. schools and how many end up receiving admissions to Midwestern University's Medical school itself?

Does anybody know if they are still transferring applications from those who got rejected from the DO program automatically to the MA program??

Which program is recommended if boosting gpa is a priority?
