Minimum and average GPA/MCAT for several D.O. schools?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You think the spike in the MCAT average had anything to do with Dr. Dubin coming in?

Yes? We were gradually increasing before he got here, but a 2.5 point jump in 2 years tells me they've likely adjusted their standards. I wouldn't say it's been all him, as we've had a lot of new staff come in, but I think he has certainly been part of it.

I hate that I didn't help with that MCAT average, I was the exception haha.

The MCAT average spiked because there were SO MANY applicants the past three years. The old MCAT for the last three years did NOT have a writing section, and the MCAT exam was far easier and shorter than the ones before and after it. Adding on how bad our economy was before only made the number of applications increase.

We're just getting the effects of that the past couple of years.

The more applicants there are, the higher the MCAT average is going to be, because of limited number of seats.

Grade Point Averages for Entering Students:

Science: 3.39
Mean: 3.51

I feel like the stats that I've listed below must be inflated...I haven't done the calculation but I highly doubt the average science GPA will come out to 3.39...some of the scores are older too meaning that the newer school averages are probably higher...are the schools inflating their GPA to make themselves look more competitive?

I've wondered the same but I hover around those averages without any retakes.

Why would they deter people from spending money on sending supplemental apps?

Stats seem about a year old. My school is doing a bit better than what you have. NO, I'm not sharing. How old is the list?
List is about a year old, from 14-15 admissions process.

Guess so! I've heard he likes to scan applicants transcripts over even post interview because he likes to see how many semesters had "fluff" aka less than 3 sciences courses.

I'd be screwed at your school. I very rarely took a full science load in my post bacc, not because I didn't want to, but because of the way my school determined prerequisites for each course.

If you got straight As in your science courses I'm sure they'd be fine with it!

I have utilized various sources to no avail. I am looking for a minimum GPA requirement for applying to the following schools:
  • Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Tuoro College of Osteopathic Medicine - NY
Touro COM-NY's website says "expected B or better in prerequisites." Is this a minimum requirement? I have a C in one prereq course but all others are A's and B's. Would I make it through initial screening?

Also, does anybody have a link to stats on average accepted applicants' MCAT score and GPA data?

Much appreciated!

Here is a link, hope it helps!
