Yeah mongrel! So are you dropping SLU in favor of Mizzou?

Wonder what happened w/ the other 3 on our interview day...

Mmm, yep withdrew from SLU this morning. I think I'm still going to hold on to the WashU waitlist at least until I nail down a definitely place to live in Columbia. But I'm heading over tomorrow to check out a few apartments, so heck, that might be sooner than I thought!

i was told they got to 29 last week

They did. I was #29. However, I have decided on another institution and that was just finalized in the last hour.

Therefore, another spot has been freed up. I don't know where the waitlist is now, but if you are on the edge, you should be good to go.

Hope that made someone's memorial day weekend.

Good luck wherever you end up.

As a side note, I think someone is going to leave this group for Rochester as well(wonder who that could be?)

This means a) I'm happy for her and b) I'm happy for me since the waitlist will hopefully move again.

Hmm, yes, I wonder who it is?! :hardy:

Now I need to convince my parents that I need a break from Missouri for awhile! It will be tough, since I love Mizzou so so so so so much (and Roch is more expensive), but I think it's time for a change.

And I want Lost to get in!!!

Our loss, for sure. Keep in cyber-touch and maybe our paths will cross again! Good luck!!! :luck:

Good luck, Dr. Grunt! 😉

Thank You 🙂 Lets see how June treats me.

Just remember you don't get a second chance to go to medical school. So if you have the option, go where you feel is best for you. Money is important, but sometimes you just have to go with your heart. Good Luck.

Did you call and see where the WL is at this week?

Yup, nothing good about movements. But it is not even June, so I'm trying to be patient.

I gave my notice at work today...very scary, but amazing as well. The reality of this is just sinking in on a whole new level.😱

Try quitting 3 jobs, LnF! This has been a hell of a week.... but I have quit dates set at all of them. Haven't officially turned in resignations at the two hospitals although my bosses know when (and why). Started telling my private clients this week which was, uh, gut-wrenching to say the least. 🙁

Quitting any job is hard! Especially when it means no income for 4 years. Do you plan on working at all during school? I've toyed with the idea maybe 3rd/4th, but not during the first two years. I hope replacing 60 hours of work with 60 hours of studying will get me through the firehose of information that will come at me!

I'm planning on working very part-time during the first year. My current job is going to allow me to cut back to basically work whenever and as much/little as I want. We'll see how it goes -- I won't let it interfere with school for sure! I know students who fill their extra-curricular time with research, clubs, church involvements, etc., so I'm hoping it works out.

I can't imagine working as an M3. That schedule is very intense with core rotations (8 weeks each) in surgery, medicine, OB/GYN (and others but those three are notoriously grueling).

I'm going to keep my professional license, which gives me the opportunity to work if I want. The problem would be finding people to work with, but I did a little networking last week at my conference which could prove fruitful. I think keeping a big toe in the clinical world may help keep me sane as I am innundated with basic sciences.

And what CF said about M3- yeah, I don't see things going past M2. Not sure how they could... No control of my own schedule= no scheduling people to come see me.

I'm going to call this afternoon and see where they are...has anyone else called this morning to find out?

Good luck to all of us who are still waiting!

Hey we're rooting for you! Let us know where the list is at! :luck:👍

Just got confirmation my deposit reached Rochester... so I just withdrew from Mizzou... Hope someone on here that's waiting gets it!

Thanks. As of last week, they were farther along than same time ast year, based on what a couple of friends compared it to, but who knows what will happen. When I call this week it may have totally stopped moving, but hopefully not.

Hey everyone!

So I talked to a woman in the admissions office today who told me the waitlist has moved through #53. Around this time last year they were on #37 and ended up going through another 17 people before the waitlist stopped moving for good.

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on wether or not they think the list will move another 10 people by the time the waitlist stops moving for good?....because I would be accepted if it did! 🙂

Thanks!

All this good news!!! Thanks for sharing. I hope it moves far enough to get to both you and me. Can't wait to call on Thursday 🙂

In the end I decided to go elsewhere, so I just wanted to wish everyone still waiting good luck. It would have been nice to put faces to all these kind words on SDN. Maybe our paths will cross in residency one day!

:luck::luck: to all.

Nope, not in yet, but getting closer. I just hope it keeps moving since we're in mid june. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed.

Hey everyone - I just withdrew from Mizzou in order to accept another offer. Gluck to you all - hope one of you gets the call today!

Congratulations on your Rochester acceptance. We'll miss you at Mizzou.

PS: Why'd you get rid of your "The Todd" avatar? I liked that one better:laugh:

Is there a current Mizzou thread? Nothing coming up in search results.

I had the same question you did and it looks like there are no threads. Want to start one? (the thing is, i'm not exactly sure how to do that).

yes we should! Mizzou is one of my number one choices right now...still waiting to hear back. I interviewed Oct. 13th. What about you guys? Anyone know when decisions start coming out? From last year, it looks like around Nov. 20th and then once a month from then on.

Yep, Mizzou seemed like a really great med school.

I interviewed there on Sept. 29th. Hope to hear back soon (maybe in Nov???????)

Someone needs to bite the bullet and call them. We should be getting the first round of decisions in the next 14 days. Do we know if that will be by email, regular mail, or phone call?

It looks like they got emails and then official letters last year.

They explained at the interview that admissions will be handed out to the top X scoring applicants in the third week of every month starting in November. Do we know if there is a notification for people who get deferred to the next month? Or does no news mean you have been bumped to the next month?

From Mizzou:

Monthly status updates will come via- e-mail. I expect that the Admissions Committee will accept the first round of students tomorrow so that e-mails will go out no later than Monday of next week. All students that have interviewed with receive one of two e-mails – an offer of acceptance, or a letter indicating that they will be considered again the following month. Beginning in December, we will also start denying students.

The alternate list is not developed until we have completed all interviews (I am guessing this will be late February).

Just heard from them...no luck for me this round. 🙁
