I wonder what the chances are that "by March 21st" they could send out accept/reject letters a week before when I am supposed to drop a grand at another school. 😳 The grand is of course, non refundable.

Decisions are a week away! I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you. Good luck! :luck:

The 2008-2009 academic calendar has been released. Orientation starts July 28th, White Coat Ceremony on Aug 3rd, classes begin Aug 4th.

:luck::luck::luck::luck: from me as well!!

By the way... July 28th is sooooo early

So I got into MU's archrival school last week, KU. Let's hope my alma mater doesn't let me down, cause if they do....I will be forced to change my allegiance.

Any news for my *possible* future classmates??

frikarika: you caaaaan't go to kU... it's like... not healthy.

Number 3 on the waitlist....what does this meeeannn?

#24

I recall that they went to #54 last year, so I'm hoping for the best. *fingers crossed*

Yay! 24 is good! My friend just called me and she's 28... I think you guys will be fine!

#33

With other acceptances and waitlists with better standing at other schools, I'm thinking hard about just letting this one go...

Wow, I was REJECTED straight up...no waitlist even. I can't believe it. My alma mater. Rock Chalk Jayhawk it is...

don't do it! I think you have a chance...

I was also rejected from Mizzou today. The stats must be high this year because I really thought I had a chance of at least making the waitlist. Congrats to those of you who got in.

Has anyone gotten accepted today?

pingouin, is Mizzou your #1?

I have an acceptance and another waitlist, and would drop both of those immediately. Financial consideration is HUGE for me, as well as being close to family and friends.

Yeah, I hear you. My family was ecstatic when I told them I got into Mizzou. I have another acceptance, but I'm pretty sure I'm leaning towards Mizzou. I'd be spending waaaaaay too much money at the other school, plus, Mizzou has been fabulous to me for the past 4 years, and I love it here. I'm still waiting to hear from one school which would probably make me change my mind, but as of right now, Mizzou it is 👍

Unfortunately, my family is all in Ohio, where I grew up.. but Mizzou is still the closest school to them of my possible choices. However I've lived in MO since 1992 (college and after), so it really is pretty much home to me at this point, and a majority of my friends are within a 2-3 hour drive of Columbia.

btw, with his (her?) permission, I moved ceymed's other thread to the Allo Class Threads forum so we have our own discussion now. 🙂

I'm still in shock, I can't believe it...my own state school, my alma mater, 4 years as an undergrad and 18 years of my life living in missouri. I feel like I've been stabbed in the back. I mean I didn't expect an outright acceptance, but I thought I'd make the waitlist. One of my interviewers was a total jerk, and hope that's not the reason I was rejected, but I have a feeling it played apart. I'm almost tempted to write a letter to the dean, eventhough I know it won't make a difference.

Just out of curiousity... what's the first letter of the last name of the jerk interviewer?

so does anyone know of anyone who was accepted and will not go to mizzou?

anyone want to take a stab at how far the waitlist will go this year? any reason to think that it won't go past 50 like it has done for at least the past 4 years???

So....is it too aggressive to start calling this Thursday to inquire about the wait list?

Depends what you wanna ask.

I don't think you're going to get much information. They will start pulling from the WL as soon as people start to withdraw... they only accept 96, so you only need 3 of those 96 to say no for you to be in. I think you're in the clear.

I just got my acceptance email this morning, I've very excited. There is only one school I would drop my Mizzou acceptance for, and that is wustl. Wustl emailed me this weekend asking if I would attend if they gave me an offer, after some emails it sounds like they are getting the waitlist assembled for when people start choosing favorites in May.

I am the king of waitlists -- this was # 4 for me. I'm in the 40s. I wonder if with the record number of applicants this year, there will be much movement. Sigh....I think I'm moving on without Mizzou.....sad since I really liked the school.

Why would more applicants be indicative of less waitlist movement? You have to think Mizzou was the safety school for a lot of stellar Missouri residents who will get into the top-tier schools.....

I am just thinking more people applying = larger pool or qualified applicants? There are only so many spots, and more applicants means less acceptances for all, not just the superstars. Didn't Mizzou increase the # of applicants they interviewed this year too? I got the impression this was b/c of the increase in applicants, no? I hope you are right, that there is a LOT of movement. Maybe I'm throwing int he towel a little too early, who knows....all this waiting is tiring though.

good points...
but do you think less of these "superstars" applied to mizzou this year? im assuming they still applied and probably still got accepted.....

by all means if you are above me on the wait-list i think it may be a good idea to throw in the towel.....

what waitlist number do you think would be a "safe" bet?

I've heard anything above 20 is a "safe bet". Beyond that is the realm of "no guarantees" and "sucker bets".

You mean below 20?

This whole process is so random. I remember at the interview, they said that last 3 years were 60ish, 30ish, and 60ish...but who knows what it will be like this year. I think it was Drexel last year that had no waitlist movement? And a friend of mine just didn't have much movement for VCU several years ago(she reapplied and got in the second year though). Who knows about Mizzou. I think our guessing the odds are better in Vegas than here.

Some schools don't have WL movement because the overaccept initially. Mizzou accepts only 96 initially though, so there's always movement.

I agree w/ mongrel... 1-20 is probably golden... though I think maybe even 1-35ish could be. Who knows! :luck::luck:

admissions said that they have gone to at least 50 every year for the past 4 years
some years near 70s

But I strongly suggest everyone under 30 on the waitlist should call and say they arent going......

I spent a couple of hours on the phone last night consoling a friend (a missouri resident) b/c of being in the 70s on the waitlist. I am not a MO resident, so I didn't apply -- but I can't imagine the waitlist is much different from my state schools -- the first third are the ones who usually get in.

Good luck to the rest of your guys. Hope it turns out better
for you that it did for my friend. :luck::luck:

What are you going off of?

Just pure speculation... based on past years of going into the 50s.

And, I know you're 33, so I figured saying at least 35 would for sure keep you on that list!

it is THURSDAY past 10am CST
time for the weekly call to Mizzou to check status!

let us know if you have moved up any.....

any other waitlisters heard anything?
any acceptees not going?

5 off the waitlist so far

starting to worry....

I know easier said than done, but try not to worry. It's not May 15th yet, and we still haven't received financial aid stuff, so I'm guessing some people are waiting on that to make decisions. :luck::luck::luck:

When are we supposed to get our financial aid packages?
