Please reply to the email. I urge you to be candid and tell the ABA what a waste of time the Practice Improvement part is. I'm not in elementary school anymore to be coming up with projects for their entertainment.

It only takes a minute.

Done. Agree completely on practice improvement being a waste of time. Makes me feel like I'm back in high school or college.

Just told them what I really think... it's funny that the survey is not about weather the practice improvement part is needed or not, it's just about what should be included and how to document it!

i was going to send them a photo of my anus in close up however i knew it was tracked and they would know it was me

Agreed. Reiterated multiple times what a waste of time it is and that we don't need more busy work. Hopefully they'll listen...

Done. I was going to post my survey response in full, but thought better of it. As others have mentioned, I let them know my true feelings about it instead of answering their questions.

I let them have it. There is no evidence for any benefit of PPAI. It is completely devoid of value.

This just came out online-http://anesthesiologynews.com/ViewArticle.aspx?d=Commentary&d_id=449&i=June+2015&i_id=1194&a_id=32592

That was the gist of my response too.

I already did the PI project during the 1st half of my MOCA period, but I won't ever do another. I'll finish out this cycle of MOCA whatever they come up with (too early in my career to completely burn that bridge), but after that if it's not simple, cheap, and useful, I'm done with the ABA.

Right, they're still hoping that by offering "so what flavor of MOCA would you like?" that they'll somehow get to a point where they can see the membership asked for what they're giving.

If they make the alternative to the sim painful enough, everyone will want the sim. Which I thought was actually fine.
The simulator is too expensive. Plus you have to miss a day or two from work sometimes. And to top it off you only get to do 4 cases. The benefit is minimal.

I don't think there is any good reason for any practicing anesthesiologist to do any performance improvement project. Is the ABA going to teach me that I have been taping the tube wrong for the past 10 yrs? Maybe the IV? Giving zofran at the beginning rather than the end ( or vice versa)?

You should just be exposed to practice changing literature and revised guidelines. That's it.
