I just dropped Chem 101 b/c the teacher sucked, basically. So, I will have a W on my transcript. I am wondering what would be bettef to the Adcoms: Taking it at Northwestern University or at a community college? NU is expensive, but might impress the Adcoms. I can use all the help, my undergrad gpa is terrible, so if it would help impress them by taking Chem 101 and 102 at NU, I'll do it. Those would be the only classes I take there, though. Im taking the rest at my state university.

I would definitely take it at NU. Any classes that are part of the pre-reqs for med school would be much better taken at a college/univ unless it is just not possible, which you could explain in your app, I guess. Is Chem 101 and 102 Gen Chem at your school?

I would strongly discourage taking chem at a CC. Yeah, you get an easier grade, but generally worse preperation on the MCAT as well. And adcoms will grill you for taking the class at the "much easier" CC barring some remarkable hardship. I myself flubbed up chem at a private school, and retook it at a CC... I waltzed through the class, but I don't feel like I really mastered the material. For this reason, I regret taking this path, and plan on taking the rest of my pre-reqs at a 4-year state school. Look into taking it again at Northwestern, or over the summer there or someplace else.
