So, what's your most hated class? I'm finishing my BA in Chem this year before (hopefully) entering pharm. school in fall 2010, and I have to say already, P. Chem seems like it's going to require a lot more work than any other class I'm taking. It's just hard trying to figure out what specific information the professor really wants you to know is! Especially when you only get THREE exams as your entire grade! I've got a week and a half until the first exam, and it doesn't help I'm missing a class this week since I have to go to a wedding. 22 credits this semester may not help my GPA, but hey, it's my own fault for being in a rush.

Now that I've shown my yellow underbelly, what's your worst class?

I hate my public speaking class. I don't know why it freaks me out because I've given many speeches, lectures, and formal research presentations with no problem. I'd rather be taking a really hard science class than speech.

Honestly, it's any class where the professor takes REEEAAALLLY simple concepts and drags them out for hours at a time. I've already been up through Calc II, but I'm now taking stats as a pre-req. The work is EASY, but it could be taught in a few hours, not a whole semester.

+1 to that. Last semester I took stats at 8AM, and then calc II at 9AM. It was like jumping from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade in the 10 minutes from 8:50-9:00.

And yet the stats prof is on the highest horse I've seen yet. She's really proud of her subject (and more power to her I guess). It just doesn't strike me as being a real "math" yet.

She looks at us like Stem & Leaf is the one single concept that has most changed the world...

And I doodle in class a lot as a result. Latest idea: a Honda Odyssey full of Greeks with "HOMER" on a custom plate. I'm sure I paid attention at some point.

What is the famous quote about statistics? "There are three types of lies: lies, damn lies and statistics." Statistics benefit the one paying for them to be made. Plain and simple.

At least my professor teaching it had a great sense of humor. But ugh....all the pre-nursing students in there (the ones that are 50 years old that don't last a whole year...yeah, glad I'm at a university and not a CC anymore) spent so much time asking the teacher how to use their effing TI-84s. Even with a worksheet explaining it. Come. On.

I am currently in a Chem 100 class (required for graduation of all majors).

My test this past week? Memorize the symbols for the first 20 elements. Shoot me now please.

Oh wow. I learned those in the 9th or 10th grade lol...could be sooner.

Anyways I like all my classes this semester. Still trying to get the hang of O.Chem but it's coming along nicely.

haha, i took stats with people who FAILED it multiple times, come to think of it one was a nursing major. I agree, stats shouldn't take a whole semester. They should just shove it into 1 chapter of a remedial algebra book.

I hated physics. Maybe it was the professor who ruined the subject for me. Physics can be difficult but this bastards tests were insanely difficult. Class avg was in the 60s on all the exams. That and I don't care about calculating forces and balls dropping of building or bullets flying of trains.

Off topic:

But what the hell was Lady Gaga wearing at the VMAs?

Mine is physical chemistry by far.

Fortunately my friends who have taken physics and calculus told me to not take them together. So I'm taking Calculus, Gen Chem II and Gen Bio II and Cal would have to be the worst. Hopefully it gets better.

I wasn't too fond of my second semester of Physics.

The trick with the stats. course is to take the calc. based one. It's usually much more rigorous and concentrates on explaining variability instead of killing the basic statistics like mean, median, standard deviation, etc..

I wish I had much of a choice. One of the schools that I am applying to does not want us to take a Math/Science course in the Summer so I had to change that again. The Physics I am taking is calc-based so I am not sure if that would be completely detrimental taking them concurrently.

You should do fine...see if you can take Frye for physics. I have him for physics 2 right now and he's pretty badass.

Well I have to take Org Chem I in the Spring along with Physics and probably this Lit class required by most of the schools I'll be applying to. I didn't want to take Cal with all of that. I feel so overwhelmed with all I have left to take but I'd be done by the end of Summer Semester. I just don't want to rush and lower my GPA. Plus I work on top of all of this. I'm trying to see if I can volunteer or shadow at a pharmacy because I lack the experience.

English it is. The class stressed me out so much that the GPA for the semester went down. And it happened every single time. 🙁

Orgo II here. I took 14 credits during the summer and 4 of them were orgo II. With that and working part time, things got pretty hairy. I could have pulled through with an A but by the time I got to the final, I was too exhausted to care as I only need 20pts on it to get a B.

I'm thinking p-chem would easily win out though. I may take that if I don't get into pharm school next year.

Off topic. Kinda:

Lady Gaga does wear some crazy *ish... but I respect the fact that she's so different from the other girls out there. A lot of people hate her music and hate her style, but it think it's fun to look at, and she has some crazy music videos. lol

I'm not really into pop music at all (I mostly still to rock and hip hop), but I like her a WHOLE lot more than Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson or any of those singers. I like Christina Aguilara though. She pretty much minds her own business, takes care of her family, and then comes out every once and a while with some crazy ass hair and outfit and makes a new CD. I actually think that girl can sing pretty good too.

But back to the point... I really dislike physics.

alot.

I LOVE biology and chemistry (a little partial to bio though)... I just hate physics. Which is odd, because I LOVE math. Calculus II even. Just don't make me find vectors and scalars and x and y components of velocity blah blah blah omg shoot me now. SO boring.

Oh no. I was not looking to go into debt that early. I am doing my pre-reqs at one of the ACCD colleges.

I spent my first two years at SAC. It's been a while, so I don't know who is and isn't good there anymore. Plus, I didn't take physics there. I feel you on the debt thing, it is pricey.

Physical Chemistry was the hardest class I've ever had to take. The only thing worse than the 2 semesters of P. Chem was the 1 semester of P. Chem lab. I've never worked harder in my life in a class than I did in that lab. I'm shaking and twitching just thinking about it. :scared:

I'm really hating World Literature right now. It's not that the class is very difficult, but listening to the teacher ramble about Odysseus or Achilles for 75 minutes is torture.

Physics lab is the most mind-numbingly boring one there is. And while org. lab was cool to set up and look like a mad scientist, it definitely wasn't cool trying to produce limonene only to have nothing left by the end of lab.

Undergrad: physics.

Now: drug delivery. because today we were lectured on intermolecular forces for 50 minutes. i wanted to eat my own face.

haha, I'm going through the same thing right now. Plus she compares EVERYTHING to the New Testament.

PChem sucks balls. Have fun with that.

Achilles is a god among men, now if the god's had only remembered to dip his ankle in the water.

Odysseus is a badass. I'll trade you for my biostats class.

Calculus. By far. Relatively tough concepts+tough teacher=bad. Especially if you didn't have a lot of time that semester... and that guy didn't round up an 89.5% 😡

Wow that sucks. I had a professor like that too. I have never been on the borderline of a class grade but I know that would suck if they don't round especially if the schools only have the trad. A,B,C etc. grading scheme.

i hated these 1 credit gym courses. they make you take 3 exams and write essays for a 1 credit course.
