I think someone said something about this a few years ago so I'll keep it short:

I'm working at Northeastern in a psych lab and loving my research. I might have helped my PI stump a huge problem she's been having and I might be able to lead a project.

BUT I really love public health also. I love researching diseases, understanding them, reading articles about disease outbreaks...etc

So i'm at a stump. Maybe in the next 1.5 years I'll have an answer for one or the other but is there any possibility (job outlook, educational niche, research interest) in someone with an Mph and a PhD in psychology?

My options are:
  • MpH and PhD in global health
  • MA in psychology PhD in psychology
  • MpH and PhD in psychology

If it helps my research is on PTSD. I'm wondering; is it possible to combine the two if I do behavioral based diseases and ailments?

Thanks for any and all insight

I have a doctorate in psychology and will be matriculating this fall for a MPH at UCLA. Believe me, it is possible, and there are excellent research, academic, and other job prospects. The skills you will gain will be invaluable in both the public and private sectors. If you strictly want to do psychology/mental health research within a public health framework, I would recommend looking into the Department of Mental Health at Hopkins's Bloomberg SPH. They have excellent training in this area. If you want a more practice-oriented approach, UCLA, U of Michigan, UNC, and Columbia will be more up that same vain. Good luck!
