MPH Fall 2016: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi @Saji Yes, we definitely should wait, at least until the end of the week. I also applied for GWU (Accepted), Boston U (Accepted), NYU (Rejected), Harvard (Waiting), CUNY (Waiting), Yale (Waiting), Rutgers (Waiting), and Weill Cornell Medicine for a MS in Health Policy and Economics (Waiting).
How about you??

Hi...I have limited options only, so I applied in NYU, Rutgers, Columbia and Drexel nearby my residence and waiting to hear from all of them :/ . Hey congratulations for the acceptance in between. You do have an option.

Is anyone aware of a Colorado admitted students fb page? OR is anyone planning on going to the admitted day?
I think I will be attending the admit day (provided I don't get off the Columbia waitlist before then..)
I asked a few weeks ago about a Colorado facebook page but didn't get a response so I think that means there isnt one atm.

Congratulations to everybody on all the great news! This is clearly a group of very successful candidates on this thread 🙂

For those of you who received scholarships to Michigan, were you notified via email, letter in the mail, or on wolverine access?
I was notified via email.

Congratulations to all the successful candidates! And best of luck to the ones who are still playing the waiting game. Quick question: Is anyone from DMV area (DC, MD, VA) planning to attend the University of Michigan's Admitted students day on March 11?

Just got acceptance letter from NYU with 20,000 scholarship, in HPM (Policy), so they are rolling decisions out just so you fellas know!

Congratulations!!! Hey if you don't mind in telling when did you submit your application ?

Has anyone heard from UW - Global Health lately? It looks like a few people have, but there hasn't been much action on this thread for UW and they had said decisions would come out mid-February...

Scholarship wait list email from UTH went through just now. Good thing I'm not intending on going there at this point.

hey - yes, I heard from them for Global Health on 2/11 so hope that helps.

Thank you @Saji!!
Great options! You should consider CUNY as well. I visited them and I liked the program and the attention very much.
This waiting process is killing me. Even though I already have options, I would like to stay in NYC, but I guess we will be waiting for a couple more days (hoping not for weeks please!!! hahaha).

I applied to Emory ( BSHE) and Columbia ( population health ) in mid November - should I consider waiting or just assume rejections from
Both programs and start narrowing down my choices - it's excruciatingly painful to wait but I don't want to to make a hasty decision, especially with programs of my first choice - anyone's thoughts on the same ?

Rejected from Harvard MPH in Epi lol. I guess I'm okay with it as I was having second thoughts about the part-time/online thing.
Now just waiting on Berkeley and I can finally decide! But so far I feel like I'm leaning heavily towards either Yale or JHU. UMich and Columbia are also a consideration but I think I might be leaning against Columbia for now.

PS: anybody still waiting on Berk btw? Feel like most decisions came out. I submitted 12/1 and it was verified in January so I wonder if that's why I haven't heard back yet

See my earlier post about making these assumptions. It's also in the stickied thread.

I know waiting is quite scary but hope for the best. There is also New York Medical College near NYC, CEPH accredited, if you wanna consider. I visited Drexel this sunday and I am really wishing to get into it. Great faculty and easy to talk to 🙂
I did consider CUNY but they offer online/campus programs, so I didn't thinking that they may be having less weightage as compared to full time campus programs. But waiting for results, so I have started to consider it again though I am quite late but I am gonna apply I guess.

CONGRATS! When was your app verified if you don't mind sharing? CONGRATULATIONS ON NYU! 🙂

This is pretty late but I noticed that there is a new Healthcare Management concentration at Harvard for the 65-credit MPH. I know that on SOPHAS it says that the application was due on December 15th 2017 however some places say later since it's starting in Jan 2017. Can anyone confirm the deadline?

Hey, I actually had the same realization a month ago about the same program and contacted the office. The email I got back from their admission office was that their hard deadline is May 1. You may want to send them an email anyways to double check.

I committed to GWU for their epi program! I will be declining all other programs this week. Hopefully that'll help others out that are on the waitlist!

I visited the campus/DC last week and I cannot be any happier with my decision. I met with my program advisor, a current student, and sat in on a epidemiology faculty career panel that was going on for current students. The access to networking, internships, and jobs that I was exposed to just that day was incredible. So excited to attend! Starting in May!

This forum was very informative and helpful in calming the crazy anxiety that takes over in the waiting process! Thank you to everyone who contributed! Good luck to everyone 🙂

I'll see you in August!

It's in the "formal acceptance letter". Its another email they said a few days after the acceptance email with a bunch of pdf attachments. Its also in the mailed acceptance package.
Just curious, about how many days did it take to get the formal acceptance email ?

Yay!! I'm leaning toward GW as well! I already live in the area and love it. Maybe I'll see you in the epi program next year 🙂 Just worried about the cost - did they happen to mention how to lower it?

I'm still waiting on Berkeley although at this point, I'm not feeling very hopeful =/ I just wish they would send the letter already rather than drag it out lol

That's great news! Congratulations!
By any chance did they mention when are they going to announce scholarships? Thank you and Congrats again!!!! 😀

Yes, I had a phone meeting with the Director of Admissions from New York Medical College, and gave me a good impression! Although I'm not totally sure about applying :s.
Drexel is an excellent choice...keep on hope, I'm sure you'll get accepted!
About CUNY, they do offer that online/campus hybrid, and I was worried about that too, but they told me that the online mode was only for the basic/core courses, which I found as an interesting approach...but if you decide to apply, you are still on time to do it, I think their deadline is March 1st.
Best of luck!! Keep in touch.

Me too confused about NYMC but I will decide for it once all the results are out as its last date is in June. Thanks for the positive vibes, I am not expecting but waiting.. Wish you luck too for getting in NYC. You will surely crack one!!!

Just a silly question but I was wondering hhhh:

what happens if someone accepts more than one offer, besides losing 300 USD of course.

Scholarship wait list email from UTH went through just now. Good thing I'm not intending on going there at this point.
I got that mail too. Are they sending to everyone? How the waitlist works here and what is the amount? Do you have any idea?

No. It's the first time I've seen a scholarship wait list. My guess is UTH is just... broke. 🙁

I just got that too. I'm pretty sold on Emory but UTH is cheap already, if I make it out of that scholarship waitlist I'd graduate debt free... ugh.

I'm in a similar situation totesk, I really really want to attend Emory as I love their Epidemiology Program. But I am an international student and the idea of paying back the student loan for years after graduating out of school is quiet frightening.
I do not quite understand being on a wait list for scholarship, let's wait and hope for the best!

Would anyone know how the job market is in Epidemiology for International students after graduating?

Does anyone who has read the previous years' threads know when people on the waitlist started hearing back?

Just booked my travel for Berkeley's Diversity and Admitted Student days! 🙂 Will I be seeing any of you there?

Accepted to Johns Hopkins for a MS in Epid! In the letter they said all MPH students are eligible to receive 75% off tuition the second year of the program as long as they maintain a certain GPA and pass an exam...enticing. Verified on Jan 14th. I regret applying to so many schools :/
Also someone asked how Michigan applicants received the notification of the dean's scholarship- you'll get an email from the Michigan SPH.

Waiting on JHU MHS (pretty similar to the MS) in Epi, so hopefully that decision will come out soon too.

Hey guys! I am attending Visit Emory 3/31 and 4/1 and am flying into ATL at 8 in the morning. I am looking for advice on what are my best options to getting to the university. Thanks in advance!

Uber is probably the easiest option. Traffic at 8am is pretty bad (welcome to Atlanta!), but without traffic, it's just a ~30-40 minute ride to Emory. Another less quick, but also less expensive, option is MARTA (Atlanta's metro). You can ride it to the Decatur Station, then catch an Emory CCTMA Marta bus to campus. Get off on the Gatewood or 1525 stops and you'll be right across the street from Rollins. http://transportation.emory.edu/shuttles/CCTMA.html Hope that helps!
