My husband got in their MPH/MBA dual degree program on 2/2. Dual degree feedback usually takes a while, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Email the Bloomberg School and ask about your status and estimated timeline for dual.
 
I have been following the thread since October...sorry it took me so long to post about me!

Undergrad School: International Applicant
Undergrad GPA/Major GPA: 3.1 according to WES (But graduated 1st of my class)
Major/Minor: Economics and accounting (double mayor)
GradGPA (if applicable):
Grad Studies (if applicable):
GRE (including date taken) or Other Test (if applicable): V153/Q157/W3.5 - TOEFL 103.
Experience/Research (please, be brief): 2 years working in the Department of Health from my city (health policy development, implementation and monitoring. Epi surveillance, and health personnel and budget management). 2 1/2 years working in finance company at managerial position. A lot of research experience (+3 years) within the economic field (3 publications).

Interested in: MPH in Health Policy and Management.
Applied: Columbia (12/01), Harvard (12/15), GWU (12/15), Boston University (01/05), Yale (01/15), NYU (02/01), CUNY (02/08), Rutgers (02/10), U of Miami (02/01). Weill Cornell MS in Health Policy and Economics (02/01).
Accepted: GWU (02/05), Boston University (02/18)
Rejected: NYU (02/18)

This has been a bittersweet day: rejected by NYU, and accepted by Boston!

I'm still waiting for Columbia. I applied by the priority deadline, but I haven't receive any email requesting interview :s! This waiting process is frustrating...

Does anyone knows about when GWU is announcing scholarships?? Also I wanted to know if somebody have any advice on looking for scholarships for international students...all I found request US citizenship :s!!!

Hey Congrats on Boston! I also applied to NYU, all my paperwork was verified on 2/3. Mind sharing when your SOPHAS was verified? CONGRATS ONCE AGAIN!

Woke up, checked the UW portal, and found an offer from their Community-Oriented Public Health Practice program! Best way to start the day.

I honestly can't believe I'm in everywhere I applied, and I couldn't be more grateful. So many exciting decisions ahead! 🙂

At this point, I've heard back from everywhere except for Columbia. I think I've narrowed my decision down to Emory (Global Health) and Tulane. I'm very drawn to Tulane because the MSPH in Tropical Medicine has a great reputation for sending students to medical school. This is my ultimate goal, however, it is not my intention to just use my future public health degree to simply increase my odds of getting into medical school. I would like to become a pediatrician and work in global health as both a physician and researcher. Congratulations!!! I also recently got accepted to both Tulane and Emory for public health. I am also interested in medicine (but as a physician assistant) after public health school. I really struggled with making a decision when it came to the two programs but at the end, I decided to choose Emory. I had written a post as well seeking advice about the two programs and an individual wrote back to me stating that if global health was truly my passion, more than likely Emory would help lead me there in comparison to Tulane. After doing research, I discovered that personally, Emory has a lot more connections and ties to the CDC (the CDC is right across the street from RSPH), the Carter Center, Global Inititiatives Program, and much more.

When it comes down to getting accepted to medical school, I don't honestly think that if you one school over the other would make a big impact in getting accepted. Both programs are really great and with really good grades, I am sure you can get accepted into medical schools. Just do some research when it comes to both programs, and follow your heart.

I don't actually remember having to send any "thanks but no thanks" e-mails. I remember SJSU and MPH@GW (online) had a form where you checked one of three options (yes, no, deferring), and I just checked the "no" box without any explanation. I remember that USF didn't send me anything formal in the mail about registration like they said they would, but they automatically enrolled me and kept sending me e-mails about registration and orientation. I eventually wrote back to them that I was not planning to matriculate and to please stop sending me e-mails.

Only one of my schools has this option, and because I'm on a waitlist for my top school I'm acutely aware of the fact that I would really like people to decline admission ASAP. I remember doing this for undergraduate schools so I thought it would be the polite thing to do.

Awesome! See you guys there 😀 I figured the earlier I go, the more time I'd have to make an informed decision before April 15. I received the OrgSync information yesterday but there isn't much besides the "statement of intent" form. Do you know if they will be sending anything out with the regular mail? Also, has anyone received any financial aid information yet?

I don't think they are sending anything by mail but I'm also waiting on financial aid. It's making me very nervous since I don't think I can go to Columbia without some funding even though it was my top choice

If you haven't heard anything from Columbia, then their decisions have not all gone out yet. Like someone mentioned above, this is not like applying to medical school. You WILL hear back whether it is an acceptance or a rejection.
 
Hi everyone. I just got an email from Oregon MPH/OHSU: "I am writing to inform you that we are recommending you for admission to the MPH Epidemiology program in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. Our offer of admission is contingent upon final approval of the Interim Dean. You will hear from us again within the next two weeks." So hopefully everyone else who is waiting on Oregon MPH will hear soon too!

I just received the same message.

6/6 acceptances! Now to decide between the cheaper programs (Oregon, USF, and UTHealth) and Emory (the dream school). Time to start crunching numbers.

Same here! We applied to a lot of the same programs. I have an MPH program at my undergrad school, and while it's a great program, it's too new to be recognized. I can't decide if it's worth saving $40,000 in loans to go there or go deep in debt at GW or Columbia. USF and UTH are also on my list, but with the dual concentration program at USF it's pretty much the same for me there as GW. AGH.
 
Wondering for those who got into Columbia-anybody in the 1-year accelerated program? Just wanted to hear thoughts.

Congrats on Harvard! I'm waiting to hear back from the same epi program.
I've been kind of unsure about the whole part-time/online thing. It's been on my mind if they allow to switch to the full-time MPH if admitted.

same situation is mine...waiting to hear from Columbia and NYU. Should we call or mail them? I am an international student and I have no idea if I need to contact them for the status of my application or just wait for the result??
 
I called Columbia for a status update and they weren't very helpful. It was just a quick "you'll hear back in March" response, without checking my application. Can someone tell them to hurry up? lol

I'm an International applicant as well! Where are you from? I'm from Venezuela.
I'm thinking on calling to Columbia on Monday...but I'm hesitating, I don't want to be annoying (Although the last time I called was on December, to confirm that my application were completed).
Unfortunately, NYU rejected me yesterday :s...told that they don't have enough space for all applicants, but they just extended the application deadline until March...so I'm guessing they didn't like my profile :s...but I wish you good luck with both Columbia and NYU!!!
 
Just got accepted to Yale on 02/18! I submitted my application in mid-December. Still haven't heard from Columbia though yet....which makes me nervous. My phone interview was one week ago (02/13) and it went pretty well I thought. I know that it might take longer than a week to get back to me but I'm going a bit crazy since they're my first choice.

Actually, I had my reservations, but at my institution a top 6 hospital view it equally. AND summer in boston where I have friends and did my undergrad. NO BOSTON WINTERS!! I can't beat that if I attend ...good luck !!
