Your stats are amazing so I don't doubt that you'll hear back soon! Definitely keep checking OPUS; I wouldn't have checked if I hadn't seen similar posts on this forum saying that they had checked randomly, only to see a decision letter!
 
So I decided to officially accept my offer from my top choice the University of Minnesota. As almost a day one on this forum, I want to thank all of you for being so supportive and best of luck to all of you on your future endeavors!! Hopefully I will unknowingly run into some of you in the job force lol.

Undergrad GPA/Major GPA: 3.2, lower division GPA: 3.0, upper division GPA: 3.67
Major/Minor: International Relations and Global Studies, minor in Latin American Studies
GradGPA (if applicable): N/A
Grad Studies (if applicable): N/A
GRE 157 V/160 Q/5 W
Experience/Research
+ research assistant part time job at a mental health clinic
+ research assistant for psychology lab on campus one summer
+ public health internship between the university and the medical school (during the school year)
+ intern at a Susan G. Komen affiliate
+ study abroad program on global health in Mexico last summer

Special factors
+ good LOR's from various professors with MD, MPH/PhD, etc.
Felt iffy about my GPA and my lack of full time experience, but so far it hasn't been a problem!

My brother's at Columbia for his MPH, but I'm really hoping to get into Harvard, JHSPH, or Yale. Honestly I doubt I'll get into Harvard/JHSPH, but applied anyway b/c why not? AHHH SO ANXIOUS :x

Has anyone applied/been accepted to Texas A&M, University of Alabama Birmingham, or LSU? Specifically in the occupational health and safety concentration?

Oh sorry, I didn't receive an email like that. They only notified me about a financial aid reminder and that my application had been received.
 
Congratulations for everyone getting into Emory and good luck to those still awaiting decisions! Emory is my dream school and I was wondering if anyone who has been recently accepted to Emory if you can privately message me? I have a couple of questions I would like to ask you. 🙂
 
Question for you all: I worked two jobs during undergrad (sometimes 3) to support myself and also get the experience I felt I needed to be competitive for med school (waitressing, labs, tutoring, etc.) and it negatively affected my grades. I don't believe I mentioned this in my statement or in my supporting questions. I did say that I was involved in volunteering and school organizations and that had an effect, but I'm worried that might not be an adequate explanation as clubs are optional, and for me working was not. Do you think I should send an email to admissions for the schools I am still waiting for explaining this and asking for advice? I wasn't sure if they could add a comment to my application or if it's too late. What do you think?

Does anyone know when Pitt releases funding info? Is it rolling depending on when you get your acceptance or do they generally do it all at once, later?

I suppose it depends how negatively this impacted your GPA. I worked full-time while in school full-time when I was getting my bachelor's and that was apparent in my experience section in my SOPHAS app and in my resume. I didn't feel the need to explain any of that to admissions.
 
Has anyone heard back from UMich about scholarships? And is it necessary to contact your specific department about scholarships?

I have no. I am a deferred student that received HBHE deans scholarship last year... my program coordinator said they were hoping to award in early feb! otherwise, I have not seen anyone on here get one...

they are department-awarded and no dont email them!
 
If anybody is keeping track or wondering, just got offered an interview for the NYU Cross-Continental 1 year MPH. Didn't even know they were doing interviews for that program!

Still waiting to hear on most of my other schools. Hopkins is rising to the top of my list, just because they didn't make me wait! 😉

My guess is all at once since I got accepted in November and haven't heard still. They have, however, been emailing and snail mailing me periodically to introduce me to department heads, make impassioned pleas for me to choose their program over others, etc. I, like most people I'd imagine, will be holding off on any decision making for any program until I learn more about cost.
 
Just got into Tulane (International Health and Development), NYMC (Behavioral Sciences), no word on scholarship yet. Still waiting JHU, BROWN, UPENN & EMORY. Best of luck and congratulations to those of you who heard back from your top choice.

Congrats!! I looked into that program but ended up applying to only UW's MPH/Nutrition program... Hopefully that wasn't a mistake as I've had an interview but haven't heard back yet :/ did you apply to any other schools?

Thank you!! I also applied to UMN, Colorado, UC-Berkeley, and JHSPH. I've only heard back from UMich and UMN at this point!

I can't imagine I'll be admitted into the other schools, so I probably should have been like you and applied to just a couple! I'm very torn between UMN and UMich. I currently live in Minneapolis and I really like what their Nutritional Epidemiology program has to offer, but UMich is a really strong program with a great reputation. If you (or anyone else) has any input I'd love to hear it!! It may just come down to which is more realistic financially 🙂

I know the program coordinator for the ScM in Behavioral and Social Health Sciences at Brown and she told me that they will most likely begin to roll out admissions after the deadline is up on March 31st, maybe mid-April at the earliest.

I hope this eases some of your anxiety! Also, love seeing everyone's acceptances! Good luck!

Oh no I hope it ends up being earlier for some programs, I know a lot of schools require you to commit at the latest by April 15th/the end of April 🙁

To clarify, this is the ScM, not the MPH, correct? Like @brown1764 said, that seems problematically late.

When does Emory stop accepting students? I'm thinking about applying to more (with later deadlines) but Emory is my top choice..

I totally understand the impulse to want to correct an application or send additional information. I would caution you against it, however, unless you have already been rejected by multiple schools. Writing an explanation may highlight a flaw adcoms may not have initially given much weight. And sending an explanation much later than your application may make it seem like you are insecure about your credentials for the program. They will see from your resume and statement that you had other priorities than academics, and as long as your GRE scores and personal statement are solid, they will understand that you are committed to doing your best work during your MPH. If you really feel strongly about explaining your low grades, I would contact someone in the department to which you applied and ask, in general, if additional explanations for poor grades really improve someone's chance of admission.

Personally, I would call them and ask. I think that it does make a difference in showing how your experiences have affected you. Especially if you're applying to programs that aim high academically, these kind of mitigating circumstances make a big difference in making sure they evaluate you as a whole person. It NEVER hurts to call and ask. This shows them you're eager to be admitted, that you're conscientious, and that you care about being perceived well. Those are all good things! Good luck, friend.
