First, I read the sticky and couple others trying to find info and I am finally left with asking here.

I'd appreciate thoughts about the following topics

MPH vs. MHA...I kinda get the differences in theory, but where do the realities take us. Is one more "marketable," do ADCOMS care for one, the other, or none of the above?

Usefulness individually or in conjunction with a future MD either at the same time as an MD or before matriculation...

Online vs. attending (although online is really my only option) and how important "accreditation" is.

Thanks

MHA is more focused on the business/managerial aspect of healthcare, while MPH is more about public health or the more people-oriented aspect.

As to getting both MD and MPH, every combination has its advantages and disadvantages. Financially, your academic instutition or workplace may pay for the MPH if you get it during residency or after you get the MD, but you'll definitely be time-crunched. Doing a combined degree program may be time efficient (and maybe cost-effective if your school doesn't charge you additional tuition), but med school is a stressful time in itself. Finally, getting the MPH before med school allows you some freedom and flexibility with time, but you will most likely be paying your own way and may not have the physician perspective to complement your studies.

I'm currently in an accredited combined degree program that's pretty flexible, and I love the juxtaposition of learning about the science and the logistics behind the practice. However, balancing all the classes is definitely an added challenge to the intense nature of medical school. Hope this helps; good luck!
