I have a question for everyone. I applied to MSUCOM and only MSUCOM. My application was complete 9/14/05 and I got an interview invite 9/22/05. I then interviewed 10/3/05. (I am so nervous about getting the call this week). Before my interview I was re-reading my AACOMAS application and realized there was a discrepancy. I put a wrong number for number of hours worked at my current job. This is obviously different from what I put on my secondary application. Does anyone think that this is a big deal and should I contact MSUCOM? Because they clearly saw the discrepancy already and I still had an interview. What does anyone think? Plus, I am looking for others who have applied to MSUCOM. Anyone heard anything yet???

Was it a major discrepency? If not, then I would probably let bigons be bigons. They may not even notice it if it wasn't mentioned at the interview.

girl I feel ya, I've been so stressed I actually broke my rule of no alcohol consumption during the week! I interviewd 10/3 also, but according to the USnesw stats from last year 481 in state applied 254 were interviewed and 171 were accepted. That gives us a 67% chance of being really happy around wednesday of next week. I only kno of oneperson who has been waitlisted who applied. Good luck to everyone.

i'm sure you'll be fine if they gave you the interview despite the slight descrepancy. since you interviewed last monday, you will probably be hearing back from the admissions people this coming wednesday or a little later. i heard the msucom admissions meets on every wednesday to look over the student profiles. i myself interviwed on 9/15 (thursday) and heard back from msucom by the next wednesday on my acceptance. so everything goes by pretty fast after the interview. anyway, good luck. 🙂

Yeah, the discrepancy is pretty big. But I agree, it wasn't brought up at the interview. I was just concerned because they are probably going to look over my file again on Wednesday. Hmm.. Also, lakerf1982 where are you from? Does laker stand for the Grand Valley State laker? Just curious. What were your stats, if you don't mind...

Hmmm. The class of 2009 was 205 people. Were your stats for the MD program? I sure hope you are wrong...hahaha. The website did say though that it was 205 as they have increased it to 200 and there must have been five people that they just couldn't say no to.

Sorry that was only for in state, out of state applicants was 1161 applied 79 interviewed and 39 accepted so the class was like 210 total students. Lol, sorry about the confusion.

first, you definitely have a chance. are you in state or out of state? how did you do on the writing portion of the MCAT? do you have any hospital experience?

second, where else have you applied? because your gpa is better than some i have seen 😀

i am in state i got an O on the writing part i volunteered at the Karmanos Cancer Institute last year for 3.5 months and this year i plan to go again.
also i didn't apply anywhere else.

when you are looking at the number of people who were interviewed, don't forget to factor in the percentage of people who were put on the waitlist.

because my application was complete right at the end of their first interview cycle so i believe that i was in the second rounds and i was just fortunate that it was so close to the time they sent out second interviews. this is just what i heard.

does anyone else know if what i am saying is correct? 🙂

i don't know what you decided yet... but msucom is the most laid-back school on the planet. i'm assuming your interview was extremely chill, right? i would not worry about this discrepancy at all. i highly, highly doubt they noticed it. i think all they look at is the secondary application they send you since the aacomas application is so unorganized.

i predict you'll get an acceptance call tomorrow. if they do waitlist you and you can't get the discrepancy issue out of your head, then go ahead and give them a call. they're nice -- i know cuz i go to msucom. remember that the purpose of the primary and secondary application is to get to know you better... not for the adcom to pore over it in search of minute differences. so relax. and good luck!

I am pretty sure I am going to go to OU because it is so much cheaper.

I have called and email MSU about a out-of-state scholarship I heard of but I been unable to get a response from anyone. This noncommunication has made me pretty leery about attending MSU.

I was wondering if when you all did your secondary, you actually put the total number of hours you were employed (ie" 1000 hrs) rather than hrs/wk. It gives directions for using total hours for volunteer positions and exact dates, but isn't specific if we're supposed to do the number of hours and exact dates for EVERY field. Instruct me in the ways OH great ones already accepted.... 🙂 ps. congrats 🙂

Well I put the total number of hours for all the fields whether 75 or 5,050, or whatever just make up a number if you have they don't know.
