Just signed over my MGIB so now I'm obligated through 2019. My HPSP obligation is over in summer 2016. I figured I might as well sign an MSP bonus, but I cannot figure out if the amounts (http://www.militarytimes.com/story/text-ads/2015/08/03/medical-dental-special-pay/31062789/) refer to a total amount, or a yearly amount.

For example, if a 2 year MSP bonus is $13,000, do you get 13K total for that two years, or do you get 13K per year for 2 years?
 
Just as an aside. The GI Bill transfer isn't a binding obligation, you just don't get it if you quit early.

Though I've got to say, I'm confused.

1) The Post 9/11 GI Bill can be transferred, not the MGIB.

2) It's a 4 year commitment to transfer, and it's 2016. Wouldn't that take your obligation to 2020, not 2019?

3) You ... signed a contract promising to work for the government an extra 3 1/2 years, without knowing the terms?

I signed in 2015. Obligation is until 2019. I realize it's not a real obligation and that if I walk away after summer 2016 my kids don't get the GI bill. I did mean the post 9-11 bill. You all need to chill. I just wanted to know if MSP was a yearly amount or not. And yes, I do realize MSP is a real obligation.
 
Clarification. Thanks for the info gastrapathy. The rest of you need to chill. I'm not a med student asking about HPSP.
