I was wondering if anyone knows anything about MUSC. I'm an SC resident but I havent taken the DAT. I guess they like their scores around 19 or so. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into MUSC being instate? Any input on the admissions process there would be helpful.

one of my girlfriends went their, she is an sc resident... you def want to be a resident or have strong ties (I was thinking about applying there bc I have strong ties to the state, born there, whole family is from there still have 2 houses there, but parents moved to DC for dads job when I was young)... They strongly favor SC residents bc its the only school in-state and MCG almost admits Ga residents as well... She is a D4 this year and has had nothing but great experiences there, she thinks that they are well organized, prof are great, ect. I think that if you are instate with a solid GPA and scores of 18 in every section (thats what she said, she applied 3 years ago) and just show that you would like to stay instate, then you should be golden... I hope that I helped you a bit, but I will PM you with specifics when I talk to her today... I left a message for you!

thanks a bunch! I have yet to take the DAT but I'm aiming high. The only section that might be a struggle is QR I havent done math in a very long time.

I am also a SC resident and am interested in attending MUSC. I applied last year but was not accepted. My Gpa was a 3.6 and DAT was 20AA/21TS/18PAT. When I spoke with the school about why I was not admitted they stated that I had not done enough shadowing. They like to see hundreds of hours of shadowing. So before you apply make sure and shadow as much as possible. They accept around 55 students a year and 5 of those are out of state. Hope this info is helpful.

thats good info. How many hours do you suggest that I shadow in all? 200? 300? 150? 100? I work full time too so its really hard to get tons of shadowing experience.

USC, did you get the shadowing explanation from Jill Stevens? I had like 150 hours but she said since I had not shadowed anyone in the last 2 years, the committee was concerned. Any word on how this year's application process is going?
