HI guys
I need advice, this is my third time applying. here is my stat : took the DAT twice first time: AA:20, TS:20, RC:21, QR:18, GC:19, OC:21, PAT:20

Second time: AA: 20, TS:21, PAT:22, RC:21, GC:21, OC: 21, QR:16

GPA SCI:3.25- 3.3 (still have not calculated my GPA but is around these numbers), GPA Cumulative: 3.3-3.35, Non-sci:3.6-3.7

80 hours dental clinic , 300 hours shadowing for an endodontist (still do),
18 years playing piano, I do have research experience,
also a former life-guard

and I applied last week so it's pretty early in the cycle

I applied to all 6 CA schools , UNLV, Arizona, and Nova.
what do you think?

Instead of shadowing you should try working on a plan to improve your gpa.

The numbers look pretty solid!

Hopefully you have some activities to fill in the other major areas of the app (ie research, and extracurricular activities). And as long as you can interview, I think you have a good shot.

If you are nervous, you can apply to a few more schools that love CA residents: NYU (24%), Boston (14%), Pitt (13%), Tufts (11%) etc...

How did you not get in the first or second times applying with a 3.3 and 20/20/20. Did you only apply to a few schools or apply really late? It seems that with those stats you should have been accepted already. (aka you're freaking me out big time)

your stats seem fine to me...your DAT scores are above average and your BCP GPA is right around the average - plus you have a solid amount of experience. i can only imagine that youre either reporting wrong numbers or there is something that you arent telling us. perhaps your LOR werent solid, no leadership or school involvement, repeated a lot of classes, convicted of some kind of crime or academic dishonesty? you should have been accepted unless you were only applying to top notch schools

No guys I told you everything there is, I did apply a little late first time in July and second time in Aug because of my DAT, but yes pretty much everyone asked me why I did not get in , I am not hiding anything, I have solid LOR from my sci professors and my dentist. I have to tell you I did get 4 interviews the first time and 4 the second time and I got waitlisted in three out of four including UOP, PITT and UNLV. but no luck there yet. I don't know what is up with dental schools lately, it's getting really hard, and by the way English is my sec language and I scored a 21 on RC, so i would think that shows something.

No conviction, or anything in my record, I'm a pretty good girl 🙂 and these are my scores, and my GPA went down due to some family problems not becaue I don't study, I was a 3.7 befor that. I have no IDEA why and that is why I asked you guys.

Maybe this could be the problem.

You are getting the interviews (4 each cycle), but getting past this point seems to be your biggest hurdle.

id spend a lot of time working on your interview skills since you are getting a decent amount of interviews each year. your undergrad school most likely offers mock interviews, and there might even be clubs (business clubs) that offer mock interviews frequently. even if it isnt dental related, its good to get practice! gluck

Your questions should be addressed to those schools that gave you interviews and had you waitlisted. Asking on this forum may be an exercise in futility.
