Hello everyone,

My friend thinks he is going to get a C and is not happy about it. The class is Intro to Theatre and he is kinda depressed that he might not get into dental school because of it. His GPA is 3.887 now, but after the C it will be 3.79. I know that is still pretty high, but he wanted to graduate with a 3.90, what do you suggest he do? And do you think he will have trouble getting into dental school because of a C in a non-science class?

Thank you,

Mask667

Thanks for the story. Tell him/her that I'm really disappointed and I really expected that 3.9. Heck, what happened to that 4.0? Tsk, tsk. . .

Tell him/her to drop the class, take an extra year to raise his/her GPA, get a masters degree and then apply after getting above 25 in all sections of the DAT.

waaaaaaaaa! got a C. this cant be a real question.

sad davy. 🙁

Waw that is one of the lowest GPA's I have ever seen, 3.833! come on now you couldn't get a 4.0! :

Tell your friend to go watch some old Baywatch (or Night Rider) episodes and learn some acting techniques from David Hasselhoff. After he/she does that, your friend should watch some Chuck Norris movies (I prefer Walker Texas Ranger tv show). Your friend will get an A+ after watching these guys. No need to thank me for this brilliant advice, just thank the "Hoff."

frickin' troll...People that get into dental schools have much lower GPAs than 3.79. Tell your friend to GROW UP and quit his crying!

Uh...No, the person I talk about is definitely my friend, you can search my username and you will see that I have a different GPA and have already taken the DAT and I am applying for next fall. My friend is going to be applying next summer.

A "C" in Intro to Theatre really hurts his chances....especially now that his GPA is 3.887. He has no shot in hell now. Perhaps he should consider Optometry or Pharm school.

What kind of response did you expect? If he is that worried call up the schools...but expect a long pause....followed by some hysterical laughter

If you can't tell from the sarcasm...I'll spell it out for you.
You "friend" is definately in good shape and needs to stop freaking out.
C'mon now
ld
but seriously- reading this makes me laugh

There's nothing wrong with being an over achiever. Dont' get me wrong-- even after a C, your friend's GPA is amazing and he shouldn't be worried about it. However, if your friend is really that concerned about this C lowering his GPA, maybe he can P/F the course. That way the C isn't averaged in. If it's his only P/F course then he's fine. Besides, it's Into to Theater.. not a science class- dental schools aren't really going to care about a C or Pass in that class either way (unless it's part of his major- then it's a different story).

A "C" may deter your friend from getting into dental school. Tell him to look into Janitorial Management.

Or as puncho advised: "Tell him/her to drop the class, take an extra year to raise his/her GPA, get a masters degree and then apply after getting above 25 in all sections of the DAT." lol puncho

I totally disagree. A C will ruin your aspirations to becoming a dentist. Heck, you'd even have a hard time getting into a dental hygiene program.

Mask, gl to your friend

Well thank you to some of you who answered seriously. I laughed at him as well. You should have seen him though, and I told him about SDN and he was like, put my situation up there. I was like "you sure?" He was like "yeah". So that is why I posted.
