My grade issue?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got a b- in psychology my GPA a 3.89 now should I be worried about that b- at this point, I don't want to retake it I didn't like the class?
No, don't retake anything better than a C minus.

Even if you failed the course, you could still get into med school.

Med schools do not expect perfection.

Those people are stupid.

It would be even more foolish to retake a B-.
Yea, our pre-med advising office tells us the cutoff is B-, and to retake anything lower unless it's a 1000 level class (bottom of intro). Hence why almost everyone I know retook a C in a orgo or biochem unless they were doing a Masters.

It's terrible advice because the C is already on the transcript, and nothing less than an A is expected on a retake. As a result, a retake is all risk with no upside. I get that people like the optics from the resulting slight bump in the GPA, but schools really are not impressed by As in classes being taken for a second time, and anything less than an A in a class being taken for a second time is just not a good look. Even worse for a prereq.

They're wrong. Better to cut your losses and move on to the next upper division science course.

Someday, someone will write a book that compiles all of the entertaining "advice" given by pre-med advising offices.
