Well, in attempts to make me feel better I thought I'd post...

I received the usual call from Orbitz to tell me that my flight to GA for Mercer's interview was on time at 5pm. I get there at 7pm to learn that it was canceled. I stand in line for 2 hours before I get to a lady who tells me that the next flight, from any airport up through Philly (if i took a train up there) were sold out or canceled until SATURDAY.
"WHAT?? I can't get a flight until SATURDAY??" - was my response.

My interview is tomorrow morning at 9am.

I'm pretty depressed right now. Especially since I was looking forward to at least visiting the city (never been there). And I lost a lot of money for the hotel and car rent too. Sucks major butt.

Maybe it was fate, I just wasn't meant to go there...

Wow You can call the school and tell them the situation I believe they will give you another date. Your hotel and stuff can be cancelled too right? or postponed to another date!!!

The first school that invited me for their interview was the University of appalachia School of Pharmacy. It was on Dec. 2nd at 8:30am. Since it was only 7 hour from my house, me and my sister decided to drive instead of flight. When we got to the curvy mountain road, we regretted our decision to drive there. In the middle, we lost our way becuase it was so dark. So, we stopped by one pub to ask the direction, guess what happened. All the sudden, all the people in that bar looked at me and my sister in a strange way. They all looked at us as if we are from other planet. The man who have us the direction told me that they had not seen Asian before. 😱 . Haha...

Also, this is what happened at the interview. When I got into the lounge room that all interviewees were waitin their turn, I realized that I was the only one who was wearing skirt. It was so strange.

No...I'm just going to decline. I think I had enough.
My cousin was going to go w/ me and had taken an earlier flight. So he is using my hotel+car rental. It's just that I'm paying for it...you know?

Hey don't be depressed. If I remember correctly you got into another school and you had an interview at Maryland as well. Looks like things are looking up for you. It sucks that you lost some cash but cash comes and goes. Stay positive, best wishes and good luck.

i've had it with flying to interviews. 5 interviews and I am dead tired. Renting cars and hotels, food, etc... So far haven't heard anything yet from my interviews. Plus I have an interview next week for Mercer! Im still pondering whether I should go or not. If only I can get an acceptance soon then I can cancel my interview. Ah, the waiting.

So sorry to hear about your mishap. But at least you've been accepted to a few schools, which is much better than others! I'm actually from ATL, if you want to know anything about ATL, i'll be glad to share it with you, but looks like you don't need it. Good luck in pharm school!

Well this isn't my story so I won't get into the details lol, and keep in mind this happend a few years ago

So this girl I know she goes to an interview in another state, her boyfriend drives her seven hours to get there, they stay in a hotel, and the next morning her boyfriend can't get out of bed because he is terribly sick, he has to be brought to the hospital the day of her interview. He goes to the hospital (I forgot how he gets there..) but anyway so she is left w/o a ride to her interview (and I forgot how she gets there..) but she gets there like 2 hours late, on the way inside she sees a woman, and she goes inside, she is lucky that they let her interview, she just missed the intro presentation and the financial aid discussion and makes it just in time. She walks into the interview room and guess who her interviewer is?? The woman she saw while running inside the building when she was 2 hours late.

So she goes through the interview and she isn't really herself because well.. a) her boyfriend is in the hospital and she doesn't know whats wrong with him (turns out it was a pottasium def.) and b) she was so late and the worst luck possible with getting the woman interviewer she knows she will not be accepted so whats the point?

When the interview is over she asks a complete stranger to give her a ride to the hospital, gets there and her bf is ok. They go back home.

She got put on the waitlist, but guess what? She ended up getting into the school early in the summer and graduated last year.

What a story huh?

And to the OP, sorry about your experience... I'd be super #$)*( off about it too, but glad to see you have a better attitude about it than I would. You're right.. S#$)* happens and maybe it just isn't meant to be, goodluck with your other schools.

But I agree with the others, if you have any desire to still go there you should maybe contact the schools and see what happens, but I totally get how you are so tired of interviews, I have an interview next week at Midwestern-CPG and I'm thinking "whats the point.." I'm probably just interviewing for a waitlist spot anyway.. my stats are pretty average and its kind of late in the game. Eh I'll probalby go anway just to satisfy the "what if" factor..

Yea - that was basically the whole reason I decided to go to Mercer's interview. I've never been to Atlanta, so it's like, what if I really like this school, I should at least go see what it looks like.

Thanks everyone for the support and your stories 🙂
