Hey guys, just wanted to share my experience of NBDE part 2 as I just got done with it less than 10 minutes ago.
I prepared for it for about 4 weeks and I went through decks once, mosby twice and Tufts three times and release exams a few times.
Day 1, I had a lot of perio and endo questions which were really not bad at all, a lot of diagnosis and prognosis questions (also with day 2) which you can't really study for, but something you just absorb during your clinical experience. I really regretted not having Tufts down cold, I felt like I would have got at least 5 more questions right if I had all the stuff from Tufts down cold. Otherwise a lot of oral path and pharm which were real easy or some syndrome or drug you never heard of. A lot of patient management questions as well, some psychology questions which I had no idea and I was a psych major in college so go figure. Mosby's did not really help for me, but decks are even worse, for patient management, I would read Mosby's once but I don't think it helps that much, either it's really common sense and you know it or it's random question you know nothing about. I am a fast test taker in general (usually first of second to finish exams in my class), but honestly day 1 of the exam was either you know it or you don't. I felt the exam was pretty fair in that regard, questions were pretty straightforward, short and simple as were answer choices.
Day 2, on the other hand was totally different story. Again, I regretted not having Tufts down cold.. Some questions I missed because of that.. But overall, day 2 questions were really really confusing.. and I don't get confused that easily. More than half the questions had more than one answer, mostly 2 right answers sometimes even three or four and you had to guess which one was slightly better than the other. For example, one question asked about drug-drug interaction and I knew for a fact that two of the answer choices had pretty strong drug interaction to the drug I was suppose to give, but how am I suppose to know which one does more???? I've been hearing from classmates day 2 was easier, so day 2 being a lot more difficult me makes me very nervous about my score..
I really hope I passed, as I do not want to go through this again.
Anyways, if I could do this all over again with what I know now. I would know Tufts down cold and not worry too much about other stuff unless your school or you are really weak in certain areas clinically, a lot of the questions were just basic everyday knowledge from clinical other than pharm for me.
