I've noticed some inconsistency when I look at some uniforms of my classmates. I know as it stands now, HPSP students are not authorized to wear the ribbon since we are IRR.

Do we qualify for it based on commissioning date or is it based on active duty during the open period which its allowed? I ask because I want to make sure my uniform is correct on graduation next year and during rotations.

Can't say if things have changed, but is was allowed (and told) to wear if after any time on active duty, which included OBC. I did OBC during my first summer of med school, and so I never wore my Class A's until it was a moot point.

In my opinion if you follow the letter of the regulation then members of HPSP should only wear it on their first day of active duty AFTER completion of medical school. The appropriate rules state that time spent on active duty solely for training by members of Reserve programs shall not be considered eligible time for the NDSM.

With that said nobody will care either way.
