Just got the email - accepted to Flagstaff campus!
Just got the email - accepted to Flagstaff campus!
I got my acceptance as well! I am not sure if I will be accepting though. I am torn between NAU and another program right now. I did get a number and was also wondering if they mean anything. Mine was 7 what was yours?
Yeah I assume it has to stand for for something. But either way we got accepted and that is all that matters. I got accepted to the flagstaff campus! The other program I got accepted to is Idaho State. I am taking a tour of it on Friday because they don't do interviews. So I guess I will know more about which program I like better after that.
yeah def... as long as we got in! so stoked right now... well good for you that you have a choice... thats the kind of problem you want to have .
im assuming you guys are accepting? cause I am... this was my number one
btw did you guys have a number in front of your email title? is that the number we were on the list? any ideas?

It was also my #1, and I will be accepting!
Regarding the smilies, if you go to the bottom of the page and click "go advanced," there is a smilies box on the right side
well that was easy!
well its going to be awesome meeting you new classmates... im assuming well create a facebook page or something once the rosters are sent out to us...
I'm also on the alternate list. I don't think I'll be making it to either campus. I also had an 8. I must have blown the interviews because I thought everything else was good. Interviewers gave me compliments on my essay/LOR's. GPA/GRE are outstanding.
Hi kptnau,
Yes I think we are in the same boat. One of my interviewers stated that my LOR's were the best he had seen this year. Also from what I remember my GPA/GRE scores were similar to your outstanding scores. I was also an in-state student. Perhaps my lack of PT related work experience hurt me. I hope that I will make it into one of the campuses but I am very far down on the alternate so I think this will be a struggle.
Congratulations again to everyone who was accepted. It really was a competitive year this year!

Yeah I'm in-state and I had lots of hours shadowing (though only a little variation). I think I read someone saying they were #40 last year and it only changed enough to make them #20. Am I right? That's not enough.

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted. I unfortunately was not accepted and I am on the alternate list. I had an 8 next to my email subject title. That might have been the number they put next to people who were not accepted but put on the alternate list.
Did they let you know what number you are on the waitlist? Don't give up hope, because schools often go deeply into their waitlist. You definitely have a chance!
They did say that every one of us at the interview had the ability to succeed in the program. At that point, I think they were looking at intangibles.
same I havnt heard anything either...kinda worried as I really fell for the school when I was there
does anyone know if they do rounds of acceptance notices or all at once?
Congratulations, okramango! I'm so happy to hear that you got into your #1 choice. Cheers all around!
so i emailed the pt department back and forth. if you haven't received anything by now you are rejected. nothing like being rejected from the school you've wanted to go to since freshman year in college pretty bummed right now
Sorry if you don't get into NAU. A rejection from a highly desired school is really tough.
On the bright side however ( And there definately is one) you've been accepted to some great programs that many out here would give anything for. It's ok to feel bad about it, but when the sun rises tomorrow, put a smile on and move forward. You're gonna be a PT !!!

If you have an apple and you put the apple in a paper bag, isn't it still an apple? What if you put it in a fancy designer bag? Still an apple...
You may change a little bit more in some places but you're gonna be an apple whether you're in Flagstaff or New York City or Tiny Town USA... right?
Greatness is on your own. Nobody else can make you be great. Make NAU look silly for rejecting you.
Thanks! I know I will be going to a great school and will still get that dpt, it just stings a little right now because the difference in cost is substantial. Oh well, everything happens for a reason. I considered dropping everything and reapplying, then I though "do I really want to go through this again?" and the answer was a resounding no lol. Thanks for the encouragement. BTW, if anyone reads this who was waitlisted/rejected and wants to know why, call the campus you interviewed at and they will pull your file.
Hi Nicole5
Keep your head up! So you called NAU and asked them why you were rejected? Are you sure that those who are waitlisted can ask why they are waitlisted? I am currently waitlisted and I am interested in how they made their decision. I will try calling tomorrow to see where I could have used improvement. Thanks for the tip! Good luck with your PT studies!
I'm not entirely sure if you can call for waitlists, but you can try. I don't think it would be a problem. I spoke with Aaron today and he was very kind and put the bad news nicely lol. But, the weak points in my application that I thought would give me trouble did in the end. Good luck with the waitlist, hopefully the stars align for you! Have you put down a deposit anywhere else?
Hi Nicole,
No I have not put down a deposit anywhere else. NAU is my number one school. I talked to Rachel today at NAU and she said that I have a reasonable chance of getting in based on my position on the waitlist and the number of people that were selected from the wait list in previous years.
yeah I believe you still have a chance. Even if you don't, Aaron gave me some great encouragement: we were two of 200 applicants to get an interview out of 1200 total applicants. That's something to be proud of. If you end up not getting in, do you plan to reapply next cycle?
Hi Nicole. Yes I plan on applying again next cycle if I do not get admitted. I am crossing my fingers that I will get in this cycle!

If you are on the wait list up to # 20 you should have a pretty good chance of getting in. Last year i was waitlisted after the initial flag and phx programs were accepted...48/24 seats--as #24, by June I was #4 and didn't get in. So have faith. I ended up else where. Every couple weeks......especially after the acceptance letters are due back / denied ---call them and see where you are on the list. Good Luck
And congrats to all who got accepted.......it is an honor to just be interviewed at such a competitive program, and waitlisted!!!
Hi Litlwarrior08,
Are you saying that you were #24 on the alternate list and that you were not accepted? I called them yesterday and they said that they accepted up to number #25 on the waitlist last year. This year they have 6 more spots at the phoenix campus so I am hoping that they will at least go to #25. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted and to all who were interviewed. Good luck with your future careers as rehabilitation specialists I am sure that all of the people in this forum will help so many people!
Last year was a little different we had to wait for phx to get approval. so originally I was WL # 48, then phx was approved I moved to 24, quickly after that I was up to 11, ended up #4. But my school started in early July so I was not available after that and stopped checking, but didn't receive any updates either. Yes, more seats this year.......should go a little deeper into the WL. NAU was my 3 one choice since middle school. In-State in Phx program would have been perfect. Take the light rail.........live at home.......oh well. Happy with my acceptance and new state. Had to leave home sometime
Hi Folks, I decided to decline my spot at NAU Flagstaff. I hope this helps those of you on the waiting list, and that someone else will get the out-of-state tuition waiver that they offered me. It was a tough decision between two great programs, but I really think that Texas Woman's University is the right program for me and I'm excited about it. Good luck to all of you, and maybe we'll all see each other at CSM in Vegas next year!
Good luck at TWU. I was bummed when I learned that most Texas schools don't do PTCAS. A lot of solid programs there.
