Hi Guys,
Why don't we start NBDE-2 score thread and the experience associated with the exam. Please feel free to jolt down your total part-2 preperation schedule and books used for the success , and share with everybody.
Thanks.👍

Wow, this is a Miracle, l passed part 2 . Studied for two months, Scored 71 the last attempt. This time around studied the mosby's decks, first aid and kaplan q bank and the tufts review: the best material ever for part two. Please never give up on your dreams because of anything. Keep pushing forward. Pray and get enough rest a day before the exam. Special thanks to odontologia, confused kid and sunshine 5

Hi Laura - great news!!!! How nice to compliment us, thanks!! Even though I passed a while back, I can't help but to still want help out and encourage those who've failed. And my favorite part is to read these sort of posts, where ppl have failed and then passed, it's very encouraging and definitely doable. Great words of wisdom that you wrote at the end and wish you luck in the future!!! 😀

Took retake on June 7

1st attempt failed with 330/500 for 74%
2nd attempt passed with 351/500 for 78%

I didn't study very much the first time but got an easy version. I honestly felt I deserved to fail. I studied seriously the second time but found the retake far more difficult. I'm just glad I went into the exam prepared this time or I would have failed again for sure.

I used mosbys and as many questions I could get a hold of. I feel u really have to focus on what they will test u on. You can't study everything. U have to focus on what they want u to know. There r recurrent topics they seem to question in different variations. My schools question bank was key for me.

Very grateful and feel fortunate to pass.

I am an international dentist with some clinical and teaching experience back home. I also have a masters degree from US university. I have a paper published under my name. My dental school GPA is 3.94.
I am badly stuck with the part1 and part2 scores of 80 each. I took my part 1 last year and part2 recently I took last month. I do not know if I could I stand any chances either into an international dentist program or some residency program. Please help.
To those taking exams good luck. Study hard, don't take the exams lightly.
Thanks.

I want to move to Canada and will be sitting the NDEB part 1 in feb 2011 (MCQs) in order to try make this happen. is there any other crazy londoner out there who is planning on taking these exams?.....maybe we can help each other with the sample questions supplied by the board (which of course have no answers).

I finally Passed my part II. I don't really post much but I thought may be this will help someone studying. first time I took I didn't take it seriously and got 73 and failed. First time I only studied decks and went twice with decks, that's it, no exams no nothing else as I only wanted to pass and I didn't.

2nd time around I studied for about month and a half, 8-12 hours a day and may be day or two off in the whole time at the most. This time I studied decks really well, went over last five years of released exams and Mosby's cover to cover. This is all you need in my Opinion. They have everything you need. Now remembering it all at once is another story.

My score 2nd time around was 89. I got 409/500 right total and 81/100 in case based.

I am kicking myself in the head that why I didn't take the exam seriously. This exam is little tougher than part I (I got 87 after studying for two weeks in part I). Just study the material really well as all the information is there and try to understand as much as you can. Don't use too much material like kaplan and stax and some other crap that is out there. use one or two things and stick to it and understand it well. I think it is just a matter of remembering it all during the exam. Just study well and be confident during the exam and that you did the best you could.

I am interested in buying that book. Please contact me at 412-877-9616 ASAP.
Thanks,

Thanks.

Please help me out with this query of mine...

Is it true that if u fail once and take the exam again, u get the avg of both the scores and not the latest score.

People who have passed in 2 attempts would know it better. Pls. resolve this question for me.

Thanks.

Well Congrats Laura, finally did it.

Just to update my story, I finally got my license to practice last week(It took about 3 months to get my license from the day I passed my part2), and I am now drilling people's mouth. It feels so great and priviledged to do what I am doing. I am running a private practice with my husband who is also a dentist and we are doing great. We are thinking of going to hawaii for vacation this summer and I'm having a blast overall in dentistry. I hope all of you will achieve your greatest success with your careers and exams. Do not give up and always keep moving forward. I didn't let my fifth failure on my board exam to dictate what I can achieve.

Wow! Congratulations on your success! And enjoy your vacation.Have a blast!

anyone know when the next upcoming blockout dates will be? I could not find it anywhere 😕

Hi all,

So I finally got my results. I've been stressed and nervous about whether I would pass or not because of how little I studied. I studied 3.5 weeks, the first 2 weeks was not intense. I passed, but barely... 75

Here's what I did: decks once during the first 2 weeks. Went through old exams and Kaplan Q bank. Of course, I used wiki as well to look up stuff, just because it's quicker than going through a thick text book.

My test seemed pretty easy to be honest, of course I was stressed because my mind couldn't stop thinking that maybe I didn't pass, but at the same time, I think I felt that I didn't do too bad, but damn, I barely squeezed by.

I have to thank all of you, especially odontologia for answering my PM with study advice, even though I got lazy and didn't follow it 😀

THANK YOU SDN POSTERS!

Congrats!!!!!👍👍

Are the clinical cases on the actual exam just like the kaplan qbank? i hope not!!! Did alot of q´s from kaplan q bank pop up???

Some questions are similar to the q bank, although, I don't think I got any repeats from the q bank. Very few repeats from old tests (if any), if I remember correctly.

If I am scoring 60% in ADA papers would I clear the exam. What should be the % to score in 80's Just wondering to know a rough value

hi,i want so serious help ,i had gvn my nbde part 1in 2008 and scored 79.49%......i wan to know weather its good idea to take nbde part 2 exam and if i score well in part 2 will i have chances of getting admission to dental school..........please help me

Are you sure? That seems strange. Call them and double check and if they say this is correct, maybe you should ask for an audit. I am sorry to hear this.

i just got my scores for part 2. 382/500 cumulatively correct. I failed with a 74 and i got 382/500 questions correct. It's like a sad funny.

I haven't taken the exam yet.. I wanted to take it the first week of january, so I could apply to NJ dental school, but I changed my mind because I don't have enough time to study everything well...I don't know if it is worthy to kill myself studying if I maybe I would not have the results on time to apply...so I just I applied to NYU and Boston with my first part of the exam...

hey guys,
I have a question for all those people who have failed part 2 thrice and had to wait one year...I wanted to know what did u guys do in the meanwhile...i mean workwise....b/c I have walked for my graduation but I can't get my diploma or licence until I pass NBDE part II...any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Poor In-debt dental student 😕

To Ni 5

I wasn't in this situation but I know a few people that were. One just studied because they had financial support. I have heard that you can petition to take it earlier than a year and sometimes they will grant that request, the one that was granted was for someone with a military commitment.

I would say get a job in a dental office if you can. That way you will be around dentistry and can learn a bit more about either the business aspect or spend some time in the back assisting and learning various techniques.

What ever you decide good luck. I had to take mine a second time and know how hard that process can be.

Don't worry about it. This is basically a time-related issue. You will eventually pass.

Spend the year taking it easy and doing what you want to do. Get a job not related to dentistry. Bartender, computer gamer, ...etc .Think of this in the broad scheme of your life. A year is nothing. You will be doing dentistry for the majority of your life. This might be the only time while you're still young
to travel and not be tied down to anything.

hey guys! i was wondering if i should study all old released exams (1978-most recent released), or just concentrate on 1990's and on. I realize that many things have changed since the 70's but thought i'd ask you guys anyway.
