NBDE II Why 600 and not 500?

I am not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere but why when you get your results for NBDE II, is the total score out of 600 and not the raw 500 questions? Does this have anything to do with people failing more and more? Anyone know?

What happens is that if you add the scores including the CASE QUESTIONS, then you get a total of 600, what you have to remember is that the 100 ?s from the cases are already distributed among all the sections, so there's 500 INCLUDING the case ?s. So, what happens is that the the JC shows how well you scored on the second day out of the 100 ?s, it's only for informative purposes. Hope this makes sense.
