I have been told by a faculty member to only use the last 3-4 board reprints to study from. Other students have said they studied all 11. What should I do? Are the tests from the 70's still applicable?

I went back through all the 80's tests and found them very applicable on the dental anatomy section at least...don't remember how much they helped on the other stuff...but I did all the 80's anyway...I took the test in 2002. I would skip the 70's stuff. I never went that far back and I still did well.

If you have time to study all 11 past exams, then do it. If you're crunch for time, then just study the recent ones.

I saw your score that you posted a while back. Just curious how much you studied.

Or you can do the last 4 reprint and study it well.. then take the remaining 7 tests and do it as a reinforcement..

When I went thourgh all of it , I notice that some Q's the one in 80's never where used again but the concept where use alot of time..

I only did about 4 hours a week starting 6 months before the test date, then once I got 2 months before it I studied probably a couple of hours a day, then at 1 month before the test I studied nonstop...even when I was driving I'd look at a deck card every few minutes...

I think what helps the most is if you studied really hard in all the courses you've taken up to this point, its easier to refresh it all...whereas if you got though a class or two w/o really learning the stuff then, it will be quite a chore now...

Good luck

see...i used only the 87,89,91,97..it really worked out for me,i took alook that time at the older ones,i found them really confusing,my advice is to study the recent edition.

River13,

With all that studying, my guess is that your efforts earned you your Part I score and not the school you attended. Anyone who puts in that much serious effort will most likely be rewarded with a competitive score.

UNLV - Study as many exams as you have time for. I agree with River, doing ALL of the Dental Anatomy exams (from the 70s to the present) really helped me with that section becuase there really isn't too much they can ask. Many of us did only the decks and ALL old Dental Anatomy questions and scored really high on that section - like 97+.

I agree with toothlord in that some of the older tests were rather confusing. I think in some of the older dental anatomy tests, the questions were just asked in an @ss-backwards way. I had test going back to the late 70's. I dont think I've looked at everyone of them, but pretty close to 70% of the tests.
