1. sol A has pH=7 and sol B has pH=6. they are both of equal volume. which of the following is true?
the answer supposedly is:
A has 7/6 of the H ion concentration of B. the other choices are:
b. A has 1/10 as many H ions as B.
c. A has 10 times more H ion as B.
d. A has 6/7 of the H ion concentration as B.
i really think the answer should be b.
i dont get it because i dont understand how A could have more H ion concentration and yet have a higher pH. i thought the more the H ions the lower the pH.
2. each of the folloowing is active during fatty acid biosynthiesis except?
a. TCA cycle
b. pyruvate dehydorgenase
c. amino acid catabolism
d. beta oxidation
e. glycolysis
the answer supposedly is TCA. shouldnt it be beta oxidation since beta oxidation occurs during fatty acid breakdown (as opposed to biosynthesis)?
3. An action potential initiated at the midpoint along the length of an axon will
A. not propagate.
B. propagate towards the soma.
C. propagate towards the nerve ending.
D. propagate towards both the soma and the nerve ending.
the answer listed is D, but it doesnt make sense to me. i thought an action is unidirectional and towards the nerve ending.
thank you
