I have a gmail address that I use just for vet schools, and I have the gmail notifier that "lights up" whenever I have a new msg at that address. It has lit up 3 times recently and about given me a heart attack each time, but when I check I find that Jeff has sent out the latest edition of the school's monthly newsletter. I appreciate getting the info, but OMG my stomach drops into my feet every time I see that gmail notifier light up! After all, it's too early for IS's to hear anything (or at least anything positive). 😱 :scared: :whoa:

fun story, when I interviewed for the program I had breakfast with Jeff. I was like OMGsh, you're the one who's emails almost give me a heart attack every time I see them, then it's just the monthly update.

I almost missed the email telling me I was accepted (wasn't at home for the letter) because it was from Jeff and I was used to seeing them and ignoring them.
 
guys.... hurry up and get accepted. i want to meet you and plan fun activities for the summer before our lives become hell....

I do the same thing! Also when I got the email about how wonderful NC State is for zoo med and it was automatically signed by Dr. Lewbart I almost wrecked...I kept yelling to my boyfriend (passengar side) ITS FROM DR. LEWBART!!! DR. LEWBART!!!!! like some zoo vet groupie...it was pretty sad...(and also from student services to everyone, and not ACTUALLY from Dr, Lewbart)

Did you get your notification on the date they said in the timeline? Last years timeline shows a range of dates but for this year the timeline specifically says January 31st. I'm so anxious!!!!
 
i imagine it should be any day by now right? this school is my last chance, rejection from here means I'm applying again next cycle

I was IS, so I'm really not sure on OOS stuff, unfortunately. 🙁 I think that they notified OOS really surprisingly early last year, but seem like they'll be on target this year for their timeline.

I got a phone call, but that was dual program business. I would assume they've already scheduled all those interviews for this year.

You're overthinking it. Calm down and relax. It would be almost impossible for it to arrive to everyone at the same time, so I would assume they send it out that day. That being said, they may be running behind or ahead. All you need to do is relax.....
 
I stepped into student services to ask for you guys and they said that the latest they should be sent out is the 31st... so it might be earlier, but I would put bets that they're going to go out Thursday. So you'll know soon!

so that means u won't even hear till at least saturday depending on how far away from north carolina you are, because if they only mail them on thursday its gonna take time for the letters to go through the postal service 🙁

The way it worked this past year for the student insurance was that you have a vaccine allowance of $500 or something like that. So essentially you can get the series for less than $200 out of pocket. However, if you need any other vaccines you'll have to pay for those.

Oh man, I can't believe they make us wait an extra 6 weeks. I only applied to NC State because it's the only school I really want to go to...with that said, if I don't get in this cycle I'll be doing some research on other schools. I hope that my ability to influence the Latin community helps too. I speak 3 languages fluently and really honed in on being an ambassador for the Latin community during my application. I just think some Latinos are disadvantaged when it comes to understanding veterinary medicine and they don't get proper care for their pets because they don't understand why it is required. Anyway, the anxiety is really getting to me now...haven't been able to sleep more than 5 hours at night for weeks...when will we know already?!

On a lighter note, today is the 31st so I hope all you OOS ladies and gents get in! Hope to be part of the 2017 class and meet some of you guys this summer during orientation. If you haven't been, the campus is gorgeous as well as the rest of Raleigh. I moved down here about 3 years ago and have no intention of leaving. 🙂
 
What are you doing to relieve the stress of waiting. I'm almost at my wits' end here.

I think that is GREAT and I could not agree more! Sometimes people forget how different someones care for their animals can be because of a certain culture and its important that vets understand this. Also knowing that many languages is amazing and I am sure makes your app stand out. Good luck!

well, i'm very skeptical i'll get in, which helps with the stress. i didn't get in in-state last year, and i had to apply alternative admission again this year (and only 1 person got in under aa last year) because of my last 45 gpa. so i'm realistic about my chances there this cycle. plus, i've gotten in somewhere oos, which is the hugest stress reliever of all!

but last year, it was all about keeping busy. when i had too much time to get anxious or i wasn't tired enough at night to fall asleep the second my head hit the pillow (and hence would stay away worrying), i'd ask for extra hours at work. or do jigsaw puzzles. those help me!
 
I live in FL. I hope it comes by monday or else I won't be seeing that letter until next saturday, :lame:.
 
I'm an NJ resident... definitely was expecting this small envelope to be a rejection, so I'm sort-of hopeful... But in the letter it says the waitlist consists of 50 unranked applicants, and that last year they didn't accept any off the waitlist.

Currently paying lots o' money for the Animal Nutrition course, with the thought that if I didn't get in I would drop it and get a partial refund. I guess now I'll keep at it and hope for the best...
 
Aww Jinglemuffin! Congrats on your waitlist position anyway....with such a great program and affordable tuition, NCSU has to be stupid competitive.

And Animal Nutrition will probably serve you well in the future anyway. Are you taking it online from somewhere? I took it at CSU...the perks of being at a giant ag school...
 
Well thank you! Yeah, I'm taking it from Rutgers online. Learning a lot, but it does take time and I don't have a lot of free time besides school right now! Assuming you applied too? Out-of state?
 
Yes, OOS. I just checked my mail from yesterday (got home super late and just hit the hay) and almost had a heart attack flipping through the little white envelopes. Just bills though.

I feel a little guilty wanting this acceptance so much, since I already have four others, but I decided a while ago that NCSU is likely the best choice for me. If I'm not accepted then it's going to be a rough couple of months until April 15th...deciding can be brutal.

You're a NJ resident so it's all OOS all the time for you, yeah? Are you still waiting to hear from any other programs?
 
Yeah, I've been accepted at OSU, and on hold at Penn. And yup, everyone is out of state for me. Was very excited about NC state, even though I know they have such few spots, just because of everything I've read/heard about them. Four acceptances!! That's amazing! How do they all rank for you? Feel free to pm me, I feel bad taking over the thread haha
