Hello all. I am currently on the NCSU OOS waitlist and have not been able to get much information about how they do things. I spoke to someone in admissions but she was unable to give me much info about how many students they tend to take off the waitlist or how they choose people. It seems in years past they have ranked the waitlist but this year they are not. Any info or thoughts??

There doesn't appear to be many SDNers admitted or waitlisted to NCSU. Anyone else out there? Also if anyone is OOS and declining admission to NCSU, I would love to know so that I can get some kind of feel for how the waitlist is going to move. 😛 Thanks!!!

Last year I was 12th on the waitlist OOS. They sent a letter mid-May (early June) I don't remember the date saying they had made it though as many as they would and that was 7 on the OOS and 2 on the IS. It really varies year-to-year on both though.

Hope this helps. Good luck! :luck::luck:

Well, I'm OOS and accepted but had to defer - so, there's one additional spot open for this year, and one less for next year😀

Thanks for the info. I am going crazy here. I have been accepted to three schools but would really love to go to NCSU and am hoping that by some chance I will get in off the waitlist. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy and grateful about getting into the other schools but I am sooo close to going somewhere I have really wanted to go.

Thanks again for replying. 🙂

Are you planning to go to the visit day? I'm sure that would help move up your spot (particularly if they're unranked) and maybe you could find out more about the process. I'm in the same boat for a different school waitlist wise. I am not sure if I should decide to go somewhere and just wait and see if I get in off the list? Can I ask why you're so set on NCSU? It's my instate school, but I haven't gotten much info on the actual program to feel enthused.

I am going to go and visit the school, but they are not having an open house this year due to remodeling. 😡

As far as why I want to go to NCSU, it wasn't necessarily my first choice, but I would like to specialize in behavior and I have heard good things about their behavior department. I feel it would be a benefit to go somewhere with an active behavior department so that I can get a good feel for it before I commit to a specialty. Also, NCSU is always ranked high and I have heard good things about the school and the location.

I am just trying to get a good feel for all of the schools before I commit to one. I thought the stress would end once I was accepted but it seems it is just continually replaced by other things to think about. 😱

Are you sure about the open house? I spoke with someone there a couple of weeks ago to find out when it was *in case* I get in, so that I could avoid a scheduling conflict with a visit to another school, and they told me 3/28.

by the way, i just noticed you were accepted to mn as well...we are potential classmates there as well...

When I talked to NCSU last week, she said they were not having an open house this year. She might have been referring to something other than what you are talking about so I would call to double check. I am planning on going down mid-March to check it out, but let me know if you find out anything different.

I am pretty sure I am going to accept at Minnesota, but I am still not 100% sure. Perhaps, we will be classmates. Let me know where you decide. 🙂

Hahaha!

Well, don't I feel stupid... Hey, at least we know now. Good thing knowledge of the website wasn't some sort of test.

This 'open house' event on 3/28 is only for admitted students. The big public open house described on the front page is cancelled.
