Need a LOT of advice :(

Hi guys,

So i took my DAT a month ago and definitely need a retake (18 AA 18 TS) and i've been studying to retake it in the end of September. My GPA isn't so hot either (3.3/3.1 BCP) i have 2 pretty awesome rec letters (i think), i'm on my school's pre-dental board, i have tons of ECs (was on a competitive dance team for years, couple of board positions) and over 100 shadowing hours.

so i'm struggling with where to apply, i know my chances are low everywhere. I'm an IL resident, so i think midwestern IL is my best shot...i've been studying like crazy so i'm expecting my DAT to go up, if anyone can give me tips on where to apply?

once again, i know my chances are super low haha but i want to try my luck with a few schools.

Hey Diva. Good blessings on your studying for the late September DAT . If you want advice on what I did to study for it just let me know. I want you to get that high dat score. With your scores and grades you may want to apply to Arizona( far I know), Howard, Meharry, Kentucky, Virginia, W. Virginia, and Rosemen. If your DAT scores go up ...which I am sure they will..the options are endless. Your in state schools..are a possibility..I might add...don't count them out....apply to them first. Your chances are lowest only when you don't apply. Good blessings. Feel free to let me know how you do and if you need more advice. 🙂

I would apply to SIU as well, if I were you.

If you apply ASAP, you may have a chance with SIU, Midwestern IL. At this part of the game, I would be very smart about your application. Here are the schools I'd apply to with your stats:

Midwestern IL
Midwestern AZ
SIU
UIC
Creighton
Boston U
ASDOH
Nova
Western
Roseman

These are mostly all private institutions. If you want to apply, please do so ASAP with your current stats. Your new DATs will be way too late in the game and if you want to submit it at the end of September, it will work against you even if they are better. Apply ASAP and when you have new DATs, and hopefully they're 20+, fax your unofficial scores to your schools and hopefully it'll boost your application. Good luck

This looks very similar to the list i have going so thank you so much, everything's done, my rec letters and everything, i just have been struggling with what to do with my DAT score. I'm going to fax them for sure, and I was debating about SIU but i think i'll just give it a shot. i've been in a panic frenzy trying to decide if i even want to apply and get my rec letters, now that they're finally settled i'm submitting today or tomorrow

I like what you said about my chances being lowest if i dont apply 🙂 my scores are kinda low all around and i'm NOT a URM so i can't do meharry or howard, right? i'm going to add kentucky to my list though.
