Just want to give med students/residents a perspective.
I'm a full time attending at an academic program in New York, one year out of residency, and I'm one of the directors of the medical student rotation. I work 28 clinical hours a week, which translates to 2 1/2 shifts/week, of those 2-4 overnights/month.
We don't have any med student this month. They haven't finished shuffling around my paperwork at the trauma center I'll be moonlighting at. There's no overtime to be had this month.
I've gone to the beach, worked out almost every day, visited friends. The residents take me drinking way too often. I'm taking a writing class every week. Watch movies every day, catching up on my reading. I still have way too much free time.
I'm bored.
Just thought you'd like to know. Hate me now, but you'll be me soon enough.
