Hey guys I need some advice! So a little back-story, I applied pretty late in this cycle and was very lucky to get interviews at some pretty great schools. Btw, I did my undergrad at NYIT. Now it’s decision time. I narrowed my choices down to 2 schools. I have an acceptance to TouroCom Middletown, which I need to decide by the 15th. I’m also currently waiting to hear back from NYITCOM. No I don’t have a definite acceptance, however I have a really good feeling I will be accepted (fingers crossed). So Im looking at this as if I have acceptances to both schools.

NYITCOM is only a 20 minute drive from my house. However, I have never been impressed by the campus or facilities. And to be honest, I don’t feel like I will be happy their. TOUROCOM is only 1.5 hours away. I really liked the feel for that campus (building). The location of the school is pretty rural, but I think that’s what I need, since I get pretty distracted easily lol. Their facility is completely remodeled. They have a really cool plastination lab and a 3D anatomy lab. Touro really made it known that they care for their students as well.

Money and cost of living isn’t affecting my decision between the two schools. My two concerns are as followed: 1) the difference in the structure of the curriculum (standard vs flipped curriculum 2) rotations and match lists. Middletown is a new school and their rotation lists don’t seem to vast and their match list is based on the harlem campus (there is only one class currently at Middletown). However, a lot can change in 2 years for rotations, and 4 years for residency spots. So, what do you guys think? Should I base my decision on what I would happier with, or where I might have better opportunities with in the future? Any and all opinions and advice are welcomed!

I would go with NYIT. Middletown is very new. But heck in the end you can't go wrong with either school.

NYIT has a fairly large opti also

Touro Middletown seems like the better choice. If you have a chance to be happier in this environment than you will increase your chances of performing academically well. I don't even considered NYIT for the mere fact that you haven't been accepted. You can't compared them. realistically it's already pretty late to hear from NYIT. And yes they have a great history of rotation sites but you choose the med school that you will succeed in not the one with that's the best of the best.

Might normally be true but I can say that noone has been accepted to NYIT since late February. Calls to admissions have informed us that there are plenty of seats and we have determined that they waited until the MD deadline to make their decisions. So its not unlikely, but you can never be too sure. Just a long wait for those that interviewed back in February.

As a NYIT hopeful I would say NYIT, but then again thats a pretty biased opinion. You lived in the area and went through their undergrad program so you would know that school better than most. It is well established compared to TOUROCOM so that should be considered, but hey if you really liked TOUROCOM then go for it. You do not want to be miserable during medical school if you did not jive well with NYIT.

Not having to pay for housing is a pretty significant bonus too, but I do not have any readily handy information on TOUROCOM's tuition costs. NYIT is pretty high so perhaps that balances out the free housing aspect if TOURO is significantly cheaper.

Good Luck with the decision though.

Yea no one has heard back from NYITCOM yet. Rumors are that we should be expecting mail by this Friday for acceptance/waitlist. If I don't get in, no sleep lost, makes this much easier lol.

Hi, I'm new to SDN and I recently got an Interview from TouroCOM Middletown for January. Can someone who has already had an interview there or knows anything please tell me what exactly it is like. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

You've created 8 posts in what seems like an hour about a single topic. Wait for someone to answer before bumping every thread related to your question. I would be interested to hear responses as well, but it's nonsense when spread over 8 threads.

Sorry about that, I'm new to SDN. I'll try deleting some of them
