Which of these activities would be the best to leave out? Im a little worried because a few of my activities I was only able to keep up for a semester or two because of scheduling conflicts, so Im worried that my involvement in so many different groups will make it seem like I cant commit to anything, or that i'm overcommitted which is why my grades are far from perfect.
When you combine different activities under one heading, how do you deal with dates (if they occured at diff times) and contact information?
SAGE working with the elderly: I did it for two semesters (sp 04/fall 05), but was busy til this fall, however I will be a peer leader for the group in the fall, should I mention it even though I may not have had steady commitment?
(condensed these two = teaching kids?)
Catalyst doing science expts with elementary kids and explaining basic science priniciples (1 semester)
Greg Delos Tutor tutoring middle school math (1 semester)
APO community service fraternity (a lot of little service projects through the org 5 semesters)
STONE Soup = on campus soup kitchen cook and deliver food to the homeless (every semester) + organized sock and underwear drive to collect clothes for the homeless
Bio benchtop research assistant (spring freshman year) cool experience and I learned a lot, but had to drop it since I was in a class that required me to do psych research sophomore year
Psychology research assistant (all sophomore year) year long class / studied memory
Clinical research assistant (all junior year + summer) helped enroll patients in emergency room clinical studies + helped with a chart review study
Psychiatry RA (summer possibly next year) should I mention it sense I have not started it yet? Though to be honest, Im not really sure exactly what Ill be doing I start Monday!
Study Abroad: France had the opportunity to shadow pediatricians (mainly general pediatricians, but on some days I wandered down to the OR and saw a few surgeries, shadowed a neonatologist, and an orthopedic surgeon)
Restech: worked as an IT support specialist (1 semester), in the fall I will be working as a business school computer consultant (do I mention it since I havent started the job yet?)
Hospital Volunteer Freshman (radiology) and sophomore (ED) summer I volunteered at different local hospitals should I condense those?
Ashoka - Diwali participated in the skit my first year, and dances in the first two years
Connections: (one year) a group of multicultural students who lived together and did some sort of multicultural activity each month (british night, indian food and movie, celtic celebration) à should I leave this one out?
Peer mentor: served as a peer mentor (kind of like a tutor) in calculus I and organic chemistry (possibly physics this summer)
Piano lessons: sophomore year
Gateway EITC Community Coalition Volunteer: tax preparer for low income families (just one day this spring) perhaps tie it in with STONE Soup?
Relay for life: participant ( spring 04, spring 05) - I think Ill probably leave this out
Washington University School of Medicine Mini Medical School I a series of lectures directed towards non-medical people in the community given by doctors about different medical topics. I really enjoyed it, one day we even had the opportunity to learn about laproscopic surgery and play around with laproscopes and suturing. Most days were doctors lecturing about various medical topics
