First, let me make brief introduction of my current situation. I am a Chinese med student who still have 2 years before graduation. For various reasons such as chaotic and dark hospital management or policies, i decide to go abroad and US is absolutely my top choice! Whereas, it makes me feel very disappointing that American universities does not acknowledge Chinese medicine diploma so that i can't continue my studying and becoming a MD. in US, which makes me seek other ways such as basic medicine science. So i am wondering what is basic science research like(both US and Australia), and does this mean i have to be pure laboratory technician for several years before i can be a researcher or a team member of a specific research program? Because i really don't want to give up my knowledge of clinical medicine. Second, when it comes to USMLE, it is kinda unattainable or unapproachable for me a Chinese although few people really did it. Besides, matching is a huge problem even you get a quite sound scores. Thirdly, as AMC is also taken into my consideration, i have to know more about it especially matching problem. Therefore i need some advice and suggestions in preparing the exams and match advice. Does anyone know the successful match ratio for Chinese citizen?
I am very appreciate and grateful for everyone's help!!!!

getting a residency in usa is not totally out of reach, lots of programs like diversity and there are lots of Chinese doctors with bad english accents here in America.

I can't comment on any administrative/technical obstacles to licensure in USA from china since I am unfamiliar. However, my gut tells me you must take usmle and finish your degree in china as the most practical path to achieving your goal.

From your post it appears your English is ok enough for usmle, the exam is all science. I have Chinese friends who can't speak barely any English and do awesome on science exams. That shouldn't be a barrier.

What is the dark hospital policies? Is it due to the communism?

I do appreciate for your help. I don't think it's completely communism that leads to current domestic hopital situation, instead, doctors no longer focus on their jobs but profits, money, luxuries, power and status, which contribute to hospital of corruption. At the same time, not only do patients suffer from disease but also have to deal with higher and higher hospitalization costs,so it's obviously they will be mad at doctors' irresponsible behavior. You know what, i'm not exaggerating the fact that war between doctors and patients happens everyday, every moment. Nowadays, amount of innocent doctors have to be involved in this kind of ridiculous war and many are die from patients' aggressive behaviour. Whatever, I'm done! Moreover, would you like to tell me some useful tips for the usmle preparation for a foreigner? Do you know something about AMC and match thing, is it relatively easier compared to Usmle for a Chinese citizen as you know?
PS: is it convenient for you to leave email address for me so as to consult you when necessary.

I don't know much about china, I'm starting medical school is Australia in January and plan to use Kaplan materials to study for usmle step 1 as their curriculum is not heavy on material that is on the usmle it will require a lot of solo studying on my own.

Therefore, I know its an exam you can solo study for even if the Chinese medical school curriculum is a little different. For example I guess you have to do a lot of biochemistry on your own since Aussie med school does not teach much biochem. I have not even started medical school yet so I cannot provide too much useful information for you except general guidelines that are commonplace on SDN.

I know internationals get put on the bottom of the list for Australian residencies and I imagine it is somewhat similar in the us. That being said if you have research, good step scores, LoRs and apply to less competitive specialties you should be able to get something. That seems to be the general rule of thumb for internationals. What is AMC? Do you mean Acgme?

AMC stands for Australian Medical Council , which is similar to usmle. It is essential requirement if you want to be a doctor in Australia. Do you know sth about it?

You mean similar to Acgme. I believe there is a separate entrance exam to practice in Australia similar to the usmle. Your original post says you want to study in the USA.

U actually could do usmle and register for amc via competent pathway. That way u could try us residency first and if u dont match u could try getting a job in australia. As for specialist training post in aussie i've been told its difficult (but not impossible) but maybe u couldnt get in immediately. Perhaps after ure being registered u need to work a few years first. I am not an aussie or us grad, i am an img as well preparing for usmle.

I think it will be next to impossible. The tsunami has hit Australia and our own graduates are struggling just to even get internships.
