I'm getting really low score for RC(220), and I'm getting scared since i'm taking the exam next month. I use kaplan method which is taking notes and writing down keywords. I tried other ways as well, but with kaplan method, it seems like I would know where to go back in the passage. Most of the time I know where to go look for the answer, but my answers were wrong. May be I didn't understand the sentence or the question. I am not use to reading and understand things in a rush. But with little time, I don't know how can I improve my score. PLEASE HELP ME!

Try to understand the tone of the passage to what you are reading. Sarcasm could easily cost you a couple of easy questions. I personally read the text with a very critical eye, almost like I was searching for evidence to prove the writers passage wrong. The passages are not that long and often you can catch the tone. Its like receiving a text or message you took the wrong way, or walking in at the wrong time to hear someone say something that just didnt sound right. We all experienced those situations.

Can you share time limit that you use of reading each passage and answering questions?

The time limit always varies, and you can't really say. But I have noticed a pattern that they ALWAYS put the easiest passage last (probably because they know that's when you're being rushed with time). So maybe you should try doing the last one...first. I tried that and it woooooorked wonders.

I used the Kaplan method, that is, jotting key things down, and it didn't really help on the test because I was so nervous. But like I said, try starting from the 3rd passage going down. They usually put the hardest/boring passage first, that way you spend the most time on it. And then you end up losing time for the 2 easier ones.

Gooood luck Zopt9! 1 month is a fair amount of time to get that raised to 300 👍

TIMED practice makes perfect. It sounds like kaplan's technique is working for you.

I would take multiple practice tests and really analyze why you missed the ones you did. Ask someone else to look it over with you if you don't understand why your logic is off.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice.
here is what happened. I usually use up too much time on second passage. I took a practice test yesterday. I spent about 17 mins on 1st passage, 20 on the 2nd one which left me only 13 mins for the last passage. So, I got nervous at the end of the second passage cause I didn't have time to read or skim a bit. so I had to guess most of the answers. i got only one question correct for the last passage. That lowered my score.
any adivce on how to improve timing. Should I just move on the last passage eventhogh I haven't answer questions for 2nd passage?
