Like several others, I have been affected to some degree by the grade replacement policy change.
Previous to the change my
cGPA would be: ~3.48
sGPA: ~3.42
After the policy change:
cGPA:~3.21
sGPA:~3.28
I have yet to take the MCAT. Was planning to do so this May.
However, I'm not entirely sure it's worth it to apply this upcoming cycle with those stats?
Should I, instead, extend my gap year and do either of the following:
a) DIY post-bac -- taking upper-level science courses
b)SMP
and if that is the case, which of the aforementioned would be the better course of action to take?
Reason for the poor performance was due to dealing with a rare medical condition that eventually led me to spiral into severe depression. Due to its rarity, it was difficult to get the proper diagnosis, and ultimately, treatment. On top of that, the first school I attended ended up being a terrible fit for me. I transferred, and the upwards trend began immediately after that transfer and getting my medical condition and depression taken care of. Began to end every semester with A's/A-'s. Got on Dean's List every semester. Eventually graduated with a distinction in Biochem. and Chem. and a member of the Chemistry Honor's Society.
Just to give a bit of background.
Thank you all for your insight in advance! I really do appreciate it.
