b. occlusal adjustment
c. prescription of an antiboitic
d. prescription of an analgesic.....

periodontal pocket epitjhelium
a. is not colonised by bacteria

hai i think the answer for the first question would be prescription of an antibiotic ,sice its alredy abcess present you should first localise the infection you cannot perform root planing and scaling if you do that you would be spreading the infection,i hope this is correct if not let me know
thanks

hi..

antibiotics are not first line treatment for an abcess.
initial treatment is incision and drainage, getting rid of irritant... which may be plaque and calculus and debriding of the pocket
after that minimum occlusal adjustment and admistration of antimicrobial and analgesic may be considered for patient comfort.
The purpose of treatment of acute periodontal abscess is to:
alleviate pain,
control the spread of infection, and
to establish drainage

hi,
the answer for the second question is C
the first question .. ideally should be I&D ... but considerign the options given ,i think the answer would be scaling and root planing...

thanks guys.the answer for that one is scaling and root planing[i came to know]as this is non surgical method of drainage and if it dose'nt resolve by scalling and root planing ,inthat casecwe acn go for incision and drainage.

thanks Gag..
i thought it was the other way round...
i thought as an abcess is already present means that I&D would be the first option , followed by scaling and root planning.... 😕
