Hello All,
This isn't meant to be a "what are my chances" thread, but I have a quick question...I graduated from an ivy league school in '04 with 3.0 exactly....freshman year I took bio and chem and got A's...but that was 6 yrs ago now...I am now at Penn doing the post bacc thing and quite honestly find it freakin hard to get A's....i think i'll pull off B+'s on average. If I kept that GPA through this post bacc and got a decent MCAT score would I have a hot at DO schools? I'm sincere about Osteopathy (worked with one in a hospt and my own dr. is one)....have great EC's....volunteer service, research etc....any thoughts much appreciated.

It is still way too early to know your chances which I know is hard to take because you just want to know. But B+'s are just fine, too. Do decent on the MCAT you will be in good shape. No worries.

Good luck to you and PM me if you ever have questions! 👍

Every year Osteopathic schools are becoming more competitive. A B+ GPA is not bad and you are still in the running but I believe that is below average for every school out there. For this reason, a lot will be determined by your MCAT.

B+'s are only 'just fine' if you do well on your MCAT.

If you have an MCAT < 25, B+s are likely not where you want to be.

That's true, I should have put extra emphasis on that, but yes. 3.3/3.4 is good but taking with your ECs and LORs, to me they count more than many think. it would be good to know what those are too. But then again I am not on a committee. Study hard for the MCAT and in my belief you will not run into trouble due to having a B+ average.
