Hello new CA grad here looking for some answers to a bunch of questions. your experience and wisdom is very much appreciated.

1) can i work with just the CA license (NPI pending?not on any insurance boards yet)?
2) if I work for a private practice (part-time basis), can I see patients for Davis, VSP, etc. before I am on their insurance board?
3) what if i do fill-in work for a practice, do i need to do anything extra? (branch license?)
4) if i work for a corportation like lenscrafters, do i need a branch license for every store i work at (since they do say you'll be floating around alot).

Thanks in advance.

1) Once you have a license, and malpractice insurance you can see patients. Although without being on insurance panels you will see little the first three months waiting to be credentialed with insurance companies (it bites).

2) You most likely could see these patients. The participating provider must sign the chart, and perform some re-examination (i.e. probably only SL exam, BIO). This is just my opinion.

3 & 4 You might want to check specifications of malpractice insurance. Are you going to be responsible for your MP insurance or the fill in location. As far as the license for each branch I do not know.
