Hello! New to SDN looking to go to med school life long dream just has taken longer than I would like. But the path God had for me has put me in a good situation to achieve my goal. I am finishing my BA in Psychology then have a few sciences to take before I take MCAT and apply to schools. Work as an EMT and see everything from traumas to everyday illness. Love going into the hospitals and seeing everyone work to make patients better. Long road ahead but never gonna give up!!

27 yr old
3.48 current GPA but will bring that up before I graduate
science GPA is TBA....

Welcome to SDN yellowfinguy!

It's great to hear that you're pursuing med school and have a great passion for medicine. In terms of where you are right now, I'm assuming you'll be taking the newer MCAT. So take the time to really research what the exam will entail. The key things to put yourself in a prime position to succeed is to really master your pre-req courses. Doing this will only make MCAT prep easier. Two, get your GPA as high as possible, especially your science courses. Three, find that one non-cliche reason you're pursuing medicine and write a remarkable personal statement. Obviously you should do research, shadow, volunteer, and do other activities but the key thing is quality over quantity. Work hard, don't take shortcuts, do your part and things will work in your favor. If you have any specific questions, msg me anytime. Good luck!
