Hey all. I am a DPC student at NYIT. Here is the timeline of my application to the school
Submitted secondary around Halloween
Received an interview on 11/20
Interviewed 2/4
Accepted 5 weeks later
Submitted DPC application early April
Accepted to DPC 5 weeks later.

Sorry I don't have all of the exact dates. Hope this helps with the stress!

Interviewed 9/15. Does anyone know when we're supposed to hear back? I can't remember if they said 3-6 weeks or 6-8

have you tried getting in touch with them? i had my interview on 9/24, and i remember them saying to just sit tight and wait to hear back....easier said than done

Hi guys! I'm interviewing here soon and was just wondering how long the interview day was. I'm concerned about booking flights. Thanks!!

The interview itself isn't bad, its all pretty standard stuff. As you'd expect the rest of the day is the tour, info session, etc.

As to flights I have a few tips:

-When you arrive at JFK/LGA make sure you have the address of the school, and take Uber, NOT an NYC taxi, the cab drivers never seem to do well going past the 5 boroughs. Plus they charge a much higher rate when you get into Nassau.
-When booking your return flight make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the airport and to clear security, especially if you're checking bags and if you don't have TSA Precheck (which I highly recommend). I'd say 3-4 hours buffer time minimum.
-If you are concerned about making a flight, and you're in the afternoon interview group, tell them. They'll make sure you interview earlier so you can leave sooner.

Thank you! I'm not from the area and that was great advice. Much appreciated!

Does the school require a drug test from accepting students?

Congrats! 🙂 When were you complete and your MCAT score if you don't mind?
Thank you!! actually I sumbitted my secondary yesterday and I was complete today!! I did not expect such a fast turn out. MCAT IS 30 (10,9,11). will be interviewing on 10/28.

I think it's 4-6 weeks
I remember the person who welcomed us during the interview saying 3-6 weeks, I could be wrong. But from my understanding they send out acceptances around the 5 week mark. So we still have a little bit more waiting to do, this wait is killing me!

It's 4-6. Interview was this week so still fresh in my mind

Next week will be my 4th week after the interview, I already got accepted somewhere else, but this wait has been killing me, it feels like time is purposely going slow on purpose.

Did any of you 9/15 interviewees get in touch with the school about when they're sending out their decisions? I know they said to hold tight for 4-6 weeks but honestly it's so much harder done than said. I have a couple more interviews and just knowing a decision from them would help me plan so much!

I haven't, but I dare one of the 9/15ers to do it!

Had my interview at NYIT on Tuesday, 10/20. Very relaxed feel, not too intimidating. My interviewer was pretty deadpan and didn't show much emotion when I talked, which was a little off-putting. However, the questions were very basic: why medicine, why osteo and what do you define osteopathic medicine to be, what would you do if not a physician, research/clinical experience, etc.

AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT DIDN'T HAVE THOSE STANDARD QUESTIONS??? That worries me

OMG so it will take 6 plus weeks now OMG, i honestly think so far the hardest part about the medical school process was WAITING after the post interview, my heart legit skips a heartbeat everytime I open the mail. I am expecting some love soon ugh!

Was it the german bald PhD guy?
Nah. Mine had a thick latin american accent. Did not ask any normal question (why med, why DO, etc.). Asked me about a fairly easy ethical question, but took about five minutes to ask the question so it was tough to gage what the question really was at first. Also had no facial expressions, or feedback on any of my answers. But I think I did okay answering the questions confidently.

PM me if you want me info on my interview

Also, going to do everyone else who hasn't interviewed a favor. Don't use the "gps" address they have in the II email. It will bring you to some rando middle school down the street from the campus.

Had an interview this week. Strange that it would take so long to reach a decision for the first batch of interviews.

I guess I can understand a bit, they have a severely understaffed admissions office for a very large number of students. Plus they usually do their admissions a lot later normally, like they start interviewing in November! So since this is their first year doing it so early they might be still getting used to it. Still annoying though, I'm spending so much money traveling to other interviews. This is my first choice school, so it'd make my life easier to get an answer.

Yeah that makes sense. They might have started earlier anticipating delays now that I think of it. At the interview they expressed some concerns about AACOMAs being an entire new system and having to work out the kinks. But man, I will not be able to stand a 6+ week delay, this is my first choice as well, so we're on the same boat.

Interviewing tomorrow. I am kinda nervous , this is my first interview of the season.

Spoke to admissions today to update my mcat score just in case they hadn't decided on me yet. Interviewed 9/15. They said no decisions yet! But he did say I would hear soon, fingers crossed

"soon" as in...I should start stalking my mailman this week?

Someone else called and they told them early November so I would start stalking the mailman on monday

I wish they told us online of their decision, I hate waiting 4PM for my mail everyday, it drives me seriously insane!

Need opinions:

29 MCAT, 3.7 GPA, MBS in biomedical sciences. Submitted secondary in July and have not heard back. Out of state. Think I should call to make sure they received my materials, or are some of you guys in the same boat?

Hello all, I am just here to ask what is the best way to get ready for an interview. I have mock interviews set up with my pre-health advisor and was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for NYiT. Thanks ahead of time.
