hah you guys are so anxious huh? i would say forget about med school for the next couple months, cause we all are going to be dreading it come study time. but for those who wont listen to my advice, the email address would be first six letters of your last name (if you have six or more, if not it will be your last name) followed by your first and middle initials (ie. mine [email protected] for mark j nicolau)...but you will get it automatically, im sure theyll say everything during orientation.

btw anatomy is great, i juss finished it, and vasan is the man

happy summer

How About the Password to log in? I am assuming your username is the beginning part of your email address but the password could be your social sec. # or maybe your school ID? I don't know...does anybody?

The default password for many schools, companies, etc. is <some random alphanumeric character>+<last four numbers in SSN>. They then recommend you to change the password to something more personal.

I'm wondering, does NJMS allow you to change your e-mail w/ your name to a different alias (e.g. [email protected])?

anyone here going to that meet up tomorrow in NYC?

Hey, just wondering if anyone knew if the required textbooks change from year to year. Like, if we buy slightly used books from an 3rd or 4th year, will that be okay or do they change the editions we need to have yearly or something like that? Just trying to cut corners wherever I can 🙂 Alright, hope everyone has a great holiday wknd.

as for recent text books, i know that for MGM when i took it 2 semesters ago, some people had older editions. I know Dr. Lea made it a point to tell us the different page numbers, but it is not imperative that the edition is exact. I know that for MGM, I used the Lippincott text as a reference, and most of my studying material came from my notes and the slides. For anatomy, same thing; the edition does not have to be exact, but i would say wait on anatomy, because Dr. Vasan was telling me he is in the middle of switching up the course for us next semester. Hope that helps.

Any cyclists here planning on starting/keeping up regular rides once med school starts? Newark doesn't seem like the most bicycle friendly place but I'm sure there will be some nice routes in the surrounding areas.

I wonder if there's some sort of NJMS cycling club.

Is anyone out there commuting to the FIRST program, starting tomorrow, and knows where to park for the first day?

I just got the e-mail about the program details and it's pretty vague about the parking passes.

i emailed the director of the program early on and she mailed me 3 one day parking passes until i got my parking permit. i'm not sure what you can do as of now but i'm going to try and be at the school tomorrow between 8-830 for the free breakfast. if you need a pass call me so we can meet up in the parking lot. 973-727-9801

i don't cycle but i would be willing to get into it! i just need a bike.

is there a dress code for this friday? do i still need to pretend to be classy and wear a tie, or can i drop the charade and resort to my tshirt and jeans?

hahaha i would love to go in jeans monu, im prolly just gonna do business casual, nothing too fancy just cause i dont wanna be the only person wearing jeans =/

also, have any of you guys picked a lender yet? i got a letter about two months back with my fin aid award so i thought i was done but then three weeks ago i get a letter saying im not complete. when i called the office they said they sent information about lenders to my umdnj email address which i dont have the password to (does anyone else? i know the RWJ kids have that info already) anyways, bottom line i have to pick a lender now so um yah just wondering if anyone else has. is it confusing?

If you go down S. Orange Ave towards and past the Garden State Pkwy, you will enter into a nature park. There S. Orange Ave will become really windy and is a great place to bike (for road bikers). The surrounding woods have trails and is great for mountain bikers.

so yea...guys we're in medical school already...we've been accepted...theyre not judging us anymore...i am probably going in jeans (or shorts) depending on the weather, just because its a social, its not a formal event. also ill be going to the lab at the CC where i dont dress up for work....ergo if everyone decides on jeans/shorts, no1 will be uncomfortable.

plus for those living in 180, isnt there a roommate meeting thing after? you wanna be comfortable...wear whateevr u want

Hi All-

Just wanted to let you know that I'm new round these parts and will be starting up at NJMS in the fall like the rest of you (class of 2012!). Anyway, I have a place in Society Hill which I will be renting. There are 2 bedrooms available for rent and each will be for $700+ utilities. There is parking available and much of the place is already furnished. I will of course be at housing day on Friday for anyone who is interested in seeing it. But thought I would throw it out there, if you have any interest, feel free to send me a message so that we can make a point of meeting up this coming Friday.

Sorry, should have also included:

It is just about half a block away from 180 West Market, so still quite close to campus.

I am in...
On the last week of August, there is a 100 Lance Amstrong mile ride in Philly. I am planning on doing it.
I will be living in Edison and attending UMDNJ RWJMS in Piscataway.
Send me a PM and we can plan a ride. I heard there is a good cycling club in Princeton.
See you there

Anyone here in the first program wanna indentify themselves? 😎

Can someone who went to the housing day post a quick synopsis for those of us who couldn't make it?

It was pretty much a laid back atmosphere where we got to meet our classmates and all. We also went to an informative seminar about the city of Newark and how it is a city on the rise. There are a lot of cool things coming to Newark (at least I thought so). The city is getting a soccer team (the Newark Redbulls) and a huge stadium will soon be built and this will be surrounded by upscale housing and shopping. There were a lot of other attractions that are in the future plans as well. We finally got to see the dorms, and I must say that I was very excited after leaving. IMO the building was awesome--it is brand new and there are a lot of places to socialize/study. The rooms were really nice, new, and relatively big (especially the windows which was nice). There was an outdoor section on one of the floors that was really nice too...um...I'm trying to think of anything else that happened that day....I think that is it ..lol..

has anyone else not heard back about financial aid yet?

Hey guys, Do you guys know if there are any gyms or weight rooms on NJMS campus?

Thanks PBI.

As for financial aid letters - I got one part of mine about a month after I submitted my FAFSA. I then contacted financial aid, and they are supposed to send me a lender form, which I still haven't seen. Hope that helps.
