Hi I am new jersey resident and I am thinking about applying early decision to UMNDJ NJMS. I will be taking my mcat early july and the scores are received on August 9th. I currently have a 3.5 and pretty good activities (research, shadowing, organizations, etc). Any thoughts? thanks

I am planning on submitting the amcas by the end of this week or early next week and the letter of recommendation would be completed within a few weeks. The MCAT scores are released on August 9th so I'm assuming they would check my status then?

Is it better to just apply early or apply through the EDP program?

August 9 may be too late for EDP consideration at your state school, so you'd need to check on that. AMCAS says there's a August 1 deadline for some components of the application.

It is better to apply early, rather than EDP. If you don't get an EDP acceptance, you can't revert into the normal applicant pool until October, and that is way too late if you have borderline stats. By applying early, you can submit to all three state schools as well as add those in other states once you know if your MCAT score is competitive for them.
