I got accepted to NJMS in November and I plan on attending. When will they send information about housing and other parts of the school? I appreciate any information.

They should be sending into out after march I assume. I can't remember when I received the info but you can always call admissions and inquire. If you are looking for housing you should start as soon as possible and look online. I found my place (last year) by searching on google with keywords like
"society hill housing newark"...assuming u wanted to live in society hill which is right across the school. I'm sure people who are moving have been posting already.

Also look at the seton hall off-campus housing page and rutgers.

Hey guys just curious, I'm set to attend NJMS in the fall as well but was wondering if I would need a car for preceptorship? I picked this up from another thread but wasn't sure if this was true or not. Thanks.

It depends on where your preceptorship is. If you get one in the Doctors Office Center then the answer is obviously no. If it's somewhere accessible by public transportation, and you don't mind taking New Jersey Transit or an extra hour + out of your day, then you still don't need a car.

However, the vast majority of students drive to preceptorship since they are either on Monday or Thursday from 9-12 or Tuesday from 2-5 and you don't have much time for travel in between your preceptor and lecture.

hey....im gonna be a first year at NJMS..can u pls tell me a lil bout the new curriculum..i know the changes and all...but how do u like it? And whats this precptorship about?
thanx a lot 👍

regarding the initial question, you won't get housing information until MUCH later. You will receive a letter about a housing day and that letter comes along the same time as when they send information about the 2nd luncheon for accepted applicants. (expect this to come around april and the luncheon around may)

as for "other parts of the school" you'll have to be more specific

the curriculum is the same as what is online on the website. everyone has their likes and dislikes about the program and that varies from who you ask.

the preceptor experience is just weekly visits to a doctor's outpatient office where you follow him for 3 hrs practicing your HPI and physical exam skills. Everyone has different experiences with their preceptors so it would be good to ask others about who is good to have

Hey ladies and fellas, I have a question. I'm pretty happy to matriculate into NJMS this fall but I'd like to get some insight on opportunities for participating in international projects. Are there plenty of chances to do either clinical or basic science research overseas or are they pretty rare?

Thnx for the welcome DrG, guess I haven't posted on there since I'm so used to lurking around this board instead. Real cool to have enthused classmates though. I just wanted an opinion from some of the seasoned students about it since the website didn't really elaborate much. I think it said grants are only available to 4th year students or something too actually. Anyways it's much better to hear from experience.
