hi guys ,

i am still waiting for the response.please reply !

A graduate program in the US is a definite plus......towards a DDS program (that's what I have been told by various sources).

Which is more useful ......don't know.

I'm sure you will get more sound advice from other members here.

Now if you have to decide between the two.......it's a toss up....you can decide based on various factors like the program structure....fees per semester (very important for an international student...if that's what you are???), place where you will be located......the weather (of course both Fl and CA have sunny weather), your interest level in the program.

It also depends on the track in MPH you got admission to.

thanks sdh for the reply.people have stopped helping others especially members of SDN.
well both these fields are new for me.and yes i am a foreign student and hopefully i will get assistanship and the cost of living is expensive at both the places.but if you are given this choice what would you choose and why.

once again thans for the reply

greeny,
if you have taken part 1 of the board, then go ahead and apply to DDS programs right now, if you have a good score, resume then you will be accepted right away and wudnt need to do an MS or MPH to make your way towards a DDS.
why do you want to do a MS or MPH if your ultimate goal is to do a DDS?you didnt mention that you have applied for DDS yet?
being in a MPH or a MS program in US definitley helps you to get in DDS,but it is not the only way to get in DDS.
if you have to go for either of the programs go in for the one that is cheaper and of less duration.some states might give you a teachers license or a restricted license to practise dentistry with a MS or a MPH,check on www.ada.org for more information about what your options are after these two degrees.
good luck with your future endevours, keep us posted.👍

Agree with godbless...if there is a shorter route.....TAKE IT.

You don't have to do a grad program......to get into a DDS program.
It's a plus point on your resume...that's it.....if you already have a strong resume....go for the DDS program directly.

All the best!

Hello Greeny,
Obviously MS (Microbiology) and MPH are very different from one another. In terms of getting jobs...I am not sure if MS (microbiology) is a good bet (Dont quote me on this though). Typically in basic sciences, a PhD is preferred. As for MPH...this depends on the concentration. Let me know what is your focus area in MPH. If you are US citizen or a permanent resident, there are lot of job opportunities for MPH grads. Most jobs are typically federal or state...and require applicants to be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. As others have mentioned...if DDS is your goal...then I am not sure why you would want to do either a MS or MPH....unless it is a way to get to USA. Let me know if you need any further info on this.
Thanks,
