Could be either, but In my opinion I'd would say at this point probably wait list? I think a few schools are still interviewing but realistically it is likely waitlist draws now.

You have a valid point for acceptances given after February 1 is 15 days to give the deposit. The point I was trying to get at is deposits are not guarenteed spots in the class. There are bound to be a few more seats to become available for people on the waitlist.

Deposits do not guarantee you a spot? Sorry if I read that wrong. Can you clarify? I thought it did.

Deposits are not guaranteed, but basically are for most. Not all attend though.

-people withdraw
-people have offer taken back

He is talking about how people put down multiple deposits but at the end of the day, they only choose one school to go to. So in that sense, when the school says they have 100 deposits already, that does not mean that 100 seats are officially gone. Although it is annoying, many people put multiple deposits. Due to this, it is usually safe to say that after April 1st (when people with multiple deposits are forced to only choose one school) a few seats will open up at each school so waitlisters will be accepted at that point.

Oh, yeah, true. I thought he meant like you can put down a deposit but they still may choose someone else--as if you need additional interviews after the interview and acceptance lol. Yeah, people withdraw and offers are taken back if you don't complete your program or start failing your classes.

There's definitely tons of people who put multiple deposits.
 
At this point if you have no interview you are pretty much done for this cycle.

I only applied to UCSF, USC, and UCLA (which I know was limiting myself, but I wanted to either stay in Southern California to be close to my parents because my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year or attend a more affordable in-state school). I received an interview at USC in the fall and am currently waitlisted, but I was rejected by UCSF (no interview at all).

Per your advice, I e-mailed Noemi last week, and she was very nice and told me that my application was still under review. But I just received an e-mail for an interview at UCLA in March! I'm really nervous and excited because I really want to stay at UCLA. Based on what I heard from 1st year dental students last year, I'm probably going to be interviewing for a spot on the waitlist, but I'm just really grateful to have the chance to possibly get in. Thank you for your words of encouragement! 🙂

Im still here 🙁 Rejected by all but my home state school now without interviews. Still hoping, but have my plans for next year all in motion.

Thank you so much!!! I missed the phone call so I had to call them back to schedule a date. It's set on 3/13 🙂
 
i have 3.0 gpa and 2.8 sci gpa did a post bac and got a 3.2 overall and 3.2 science gpa. Got a 20 on the DAT. Lots of shadowing hours and various volunteer work. WHat are my chances of getting an interview at a dental school? What place should I consider?

You're definitely looking at applying to alot of schools, EARLY. Especially the private schools.

Good! Your DAT is fine.. I just think the GPA's are holding you back and particularly the 3.2 in post-bacc. The adcoms may wonder if you can handle the rigorous basic sciences of dental school. If you have steller EC's, LOR's and personal statement, you may have a relatively decent shot. However, if you don't get admitted next cycle --I'd really suggest you do a one year masters!

For one school it says their average is 3.2 overall and 3.1 science gpa. If they were looking at my application would they put more weight into my 3.0 and 2.8 gpa or my 3.2 post bac?
 
Hey guys I don’t know if anyone will see this but I was wondering if any of you got an interview feb-march? I haven’t received any interview and have not heard from 10 schools I applied to. I have a 3.22 science and 3.5 overal. DAT 18 TS And 18 PAT. I’m planning on retaking DAT and getting prepared for the next cycle but could there be any possibility for this cycle? Sorry for rambling lol im just very anxious for this process to be over with

Hey I recieved 2 post-december interviews at Boston University and NYU. I have a 3.1 sGPA and 3.4 oGPA 19AA 19TS

Omg good job I hope I could be in your position! I didn’t apply to NYU because I got scared of the cost regretting that now but I’ll apply next cycle
 
Any of the 3 Texas schools send out invites this late? I still haven't gotten one. I'm already preparing for the next cycle just in case I'm out of this cycle 🙁
