No interview yet.. am I doomed?

Mid October, 3 rejections, heard nothing else. I applied to 16 schools. Anyone else in the same boat? My MCAT/gpa are at or above most schools I applied to, and I have a good amount of experience considering I’m applying straight from undergrad. Is anyone else in the same boat? Do I still have a shot at an interview/acceptance?
 
dont lose hope! there are still many months of interviews ahead of you. i have plenty friends who didnt get their first interview until dec-feb in previous cycles. it can be really hard comparing yourself to others here on sdn and reddit, i get it...

hard to say if you have a shot at interview/acceptance, but i can confidently say that you shouldn't be counting yourself out so early! if you want genuine feedback on your app and school list I recommend making a WAMC post

just keep on trucking, do your volunteer hours, enjoy your classes, get meals with friends, etc. good luck! 🙂

While tender snowflakes hate hearing this, it's healthier for you to realize that you are rejected until you get that Accept email in your Inbox. As such, you should be working on Plan B and improving your app.

On the bright side, youmight get an II tomorrow, or in March.

16 schools is on the low side of an app list. You should have had 25-35. It's not too late to apply for DO, BTW.

These sorts of questions are pretty difficult to answer without context. Looking at your old WAMC, knowing what was on your app vs projected is a key piece of information we don't have. Especially if your projected is a wild departure from what you've previously done, the assumption is going to be that you won't deliver.

For sure, I understand that it’s not the most information dense post. I’m hesitant of sharing too much of myself online. Ditto for stats and where I’m applying. So at least for this, I’m not even looking for me personally, but in general if people have experiences getting interviews and acceptances at this time or later. And, perhaps why I haven’t heard from them about even rejection! I get this. Some people might be annoyed by this, that’s just my way of doing things.

I already have a plan for improvement and re-application next cycle. I don’t want to give up yet.

25-35 is great, but unrealistic for me given finances and geographic restriction because of family needs.

It's not over. In the past, many lurkers have posted with emotion about getting their first II, even in January.

Not annoyed, it just limits how much useful information we can provide.

Objectively, yes, of course people have gotten interviews and acceptances at this time or later.

I am one of those people for who that was true, now an M1! Always be working on plan B but don't get dejected until the last rejection is in your inbox (or if its apparent that a school is done giving out IIs)
 
Don't lose hope! I was also super worried about not having any II until I received one literally 20 minutes ago. Just goes to show how unpredictable this process is, anything can happen!

This is a hard process and you need to be patient. It's early. I am and 4th year and applying for residency and I feel like I'm going through it all over again. I have a younger sibling who is applying and it is their first cycle. It took me 2 cycles. I will tell you the same thing I tell him. Stay positive don't give up. There are so many factors that go beyond your MCAT score and grades. Many state school place a priority on In-state students, and private school typically don't. So if your are in a state with multiple state schools your changes are better. Clinical hours with patient contact are a big help, volunteer hours, your research experience is important as well. During the early part of the process schools are going after the unicorns, and diversity candidates. As they should. These students can only matriculate to one school. As they commit, spots will open and schools will continue to interview into spring. You only need one "A." The best medical school is the one you get into. Good luck and stay positive!!!
 
As someone in their 4th cycle, I've learned it's not about what you do, it's about how you talk about it in your app. Do you think your writing is where it needs to be? Do you feel like you wrote each secondary tailored to the schools' missions?

Yes, you could still get IIs and As, but be ready to start all over again in case you don't.

I had mostly radio silence (2 Rs), was complete with secondaries throughout August with fairly high stats. Then all of a sudden got 3 IIs back to back, so its never to late to start seeing movement. However, starting around November I would start prepping for reapp as a precaution. Personally, I've been still making app improvements and have a plan just in case, can't let your guard down until there is an A in the inbox imo.
 
Just had a talk with my physician advisor.
Most AMCAS schools interviews are from Nov to Feb. DO NOT LOSE HOPE.
