No pubs, no chance?

Hey everyone, quick question that I’d love any opinions on. So I’m applying general surgery, top 40 med school, high 250s step 1 and mid 270s step 2, AOA, some research, but no publications. I applied to 63 programs (couples matching) and have gotten a few invites back so far, but nothing at all from top 30s programs who have sent out invites so far. I am obviously super grateful for the invites I do have, but do you all think my lack of pubs is enough to completely lock me out of even interviewing at top programs?? Thanks in advance and sending lots of positive thoughts to everyone in the waiting game right now!!

You’re gonna match just fine, especially if you’re socially apt. However, those top programs have a huge hardon for research. Maybe if someone makes a couple calls on your behalf you’ll net a few takers to interview ya.
