Long story short, I majored in Finance in UG, so I took next to no science courses. My most recent chemistry and physics courses were in high school in 2002, and I remember exactly nothing from them.

How should I prepare for pharmacy pre-reqs in order to make them my bitch?

The only thing I can think of is purchasing my text books now (or at least my chem book) and working through them/it from the beginning as if it were assigned by the professor.

Are there any review books sold specifically for this purpose (catching up, getting a head start on the competition)?

Looking over some review books would be helpful. They have lots of books for this purpose. You can get them on amazon or at the library. I suggest asking the librarian for some assistance or the professor that will be teaching the course. Good luck.

Most introductory level bio and chem courses go over everything you need to know at an appropriate pace, without requiring you to remember anything from high school. I took college physics and chemistry without remembering anything from high school and I was just fine. If you want an edge than read ahead before every lecture and review notes immediately after classes.

Thanks.

Hopefully these classes will be easier than people make them out to be.

If you're a good student with good study habits you should do fine without any prep work before taking the classes, unless you have difficulties with learning the material in those courses. If you still want to pick up a textbook, unless you know the profs are going to stay with the book you get until you take the class, get older editions of any general chem, bio and physics books to study. They're all over the net for real cheap and the info in them hasn't really changed much in several decades.

cliffs notes are very good for this sort of thing... they sell them at amazon and they've very cheap.. the material is very concise and doesn't require too much understanding either.

Sweet. I got through undergrad with minimal effort, so I'm sure I'll do fine, But these classes have a reputation of being unusually difficult so I want to be prepared. Thanks.

When I returned, I hadn't had science classes in 15 yrs. I took both intro Chem and intro Bio at my CC, before doing my 1 yr sequence in each. That helped tremendously. When I didn't understand a concept, I also took advantage of the tutoring center in our library, visited my professor at his/her office hours, and met with study groups. So far, I've aced all my prereqs. 🙂 Don't be intimidated by the reputation of the classes. They aren't really that hard. Good luck!

This is excellent advice. You really have two choices.

1. You are a self starter and easily pickup/retain information - I would dive straight into Chem / Bio.
2. You are not a self starter - Take the intro classes to get yourself back in the swing of things...
